Now Jehoshaphat
Then after some years, he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria. Ahab sacrificed many sheep and cattle for him and for the people who were with him. Then he persuaded him to march up to Ramoth-gilead,
for Israel’s King Ahab asked Judah’s King Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead?”
He replied to him, “I am as you are, my people as your people; we will be with you in the battle.”
And the Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to march up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ So one was saying this and another was saying that.
He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done,
but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel,
He walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother gave him evil advice.
So he did what was evil in the Lord’s sight like the house of Ahab, for they were his advisers after the death of his father, to his destruction.
He also followed their advice and went with Joram
so he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they inflicted on him in Ramoth-gilead
Ahaziah’s downfall came from God when he went to Joram.
So when Jehu executed judgment on the house of Ahab,
Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of David. His son Ahaz became king in his place.
Ahaz was 20 years old
So the Lord his God handed Ahaz over
Ahaz was also handed over to the king of Israel, who struck him with great force:
At that time King Ahaz asked the king of Assyria for help.
For the Lord humbled Judah because of King Ahaz of Judah,
Then Tiglath-pileser
Although Ahaz plundered the Lord’s temple and the palace of the king and of the rulers and gave the plunder to the king of Assyria, it did not help him.
Then Ahaz gathered up the utensils of God’s temple, cut them into pieces,
Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in the city, in Jerusalem, but they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel. His son Hezekiah became king in his place.
