Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal seed.

And he was with her hidden in the house of LORD six years. And Athaliah reigned over the land.

And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard [and of] the people, she came to the people into the house of LORD.

And she looked, and, behold, the king stood by the pillar, as the manner was, and the captains and the trumpets by the king. And all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and cried, Tre

So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. And they had slain Athaliah with the sword at the king's house.

And when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of LORD.

So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. And they had slain Athaliah with the sword.

For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God, and also all the dedicated things of the house of LORD they bestowed upon the Baalim.
