and Salmon begat Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begat Obed by Ruth, and Obed begat Jesse,

and Jesse begat David the king. And David begat Solomon by the wife of Uriah,

the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Naason,

and removing him, he raised up for them David for a king, of whom also he said and testified, I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.

And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse and he shall stand up to rule nations, in him shall nations hope.
