Now if Christ is preached as raised up from the dead, how do some among you say that [there] is no resurrection of the dead?

And even some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him, and some were saying, "What does this babbler want to say?" But [others said], "He appears to be a proclaimer of foreign deities," because he was proclaiming the good news [about] Jesus and the resurrection.
Now if Christ is preached as raised up from the dead, how do some among you say that [there] is no resurrection of the dead?
Now [when they] heard about the resurrection of the dead, [some] scoffed, but [others] said, "We will hear you about this again also."
On that day Sadducees--who say there is no resurrection--came up to him and asked him,
(For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection or angel or spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge [them] all.)

But if [there] is no resurrection of the dead, Christ has not been raised [either]. But if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching [is] in vain, and your faith [is] in vain. read more.
And also we are found [to be] false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if after all, then, the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, Christ has not been raised [either]. But if Christ has not been raised, your faith [is] empty; you are still in your sins. And as a further result, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If {we have put our hope} in Christ in this life only, we are of all people most pitiable.
And also we are found [to be] false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if after all, then, the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, Christ has not been raised [either]. But if Christ has not been raised, your faith [is] empty; you are still in your sins. And as a further result, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If {we have put our hope} in Christ in this life only, we are of all people most pitiable.
