after that, he appeared unto more than five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain unto now, but some are fallen asleep.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, and this people shall rise up and fornicate after the gods of the strangers of the land where they go when they shall be among them and will forsake me and break my covenant which I have made with them.

And why dost thou not take away my rebellion and pass over my iniquity? For now I shall sleep in the dust; and if thou shalt seek me in the morning, I shall not be found.

Now if the Christ is preached that rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither is Christ risen; and if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is vain, and your faith is also vain. read more.
And we are even found false witnesses of God because we have testified of God that he raised up the Christ, whom he did not raise up, if it so be that the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not raised either; and if Christ is not raised, your faith is vain; ye are even yet in your sins. Then those also who are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have existence in Christ, we are the most miserable of all men.
