Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the temple when the man entered, and the cloud filled the inner court. Then he set the carved image of Asherah that he had made, in the house of which the LORD said to David and to his son Solomon, "In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever.

"I have surely built You a lofty house, A place for Your dwelling forever."

Then King David said to the entire assembly, "My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is still young and inexperienced and the work is great; for the temple is not for man, but for the LORD God.

"For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.
