But Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, hearing of it, made sport of us. They laughed at us and said: What are you doing? Will you go against the king?

David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David. Then he prepared a place for God's Ark and pitched a tent for it.

Then the inhabitants of Jebus said to David: You shall not come in here! Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion that is, the City of David.

Then David dwelt in the stronghold. That is why they called it the City of David.
