But now they do not have a valid excuse for their sin. The one who hates me hates my Father also. If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not have sin. But now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. But [this happened] so that the word that is written in their law would be fulfilled, 'They hated me without a reason.'

The man went and reported to the Jews that Jesus was the one who made him well. And on account of this the Jews began to persecute Jesus, because he was doing these [things] on the Sabbath. But he answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working." read more.

For this [reason] I was born, and for this reason I have come into the world: in order that I can testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice." Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" And [when he] had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, "I find no basis for an accusation against him. But it is your custom that I release for you one [prisoner] at the Passover. So do you want [me] to release for you the king of the Jews?" Then they shouted again, saying, "Not this man, but Barabbas!" (Now Barabbas was a revolutionary.)
