Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
Casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

And because of false brethren brought in unawares, who came in secretly to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: To whom we yielded in subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Therefore he says, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive: you have received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
