Proclaiming Christ Risen
Themes By Chapter
Book Summary
Acts is authored by Dr Luke. It portrays the beginning of the church from it’s roots at Pentecost fifty days after the Lords resurrection, to Paul being held under house arrest. The doc portrays Jesus as the Living Lord. Jesus said He would build His church, that He would not leave us orphans and that He would be with us to the end of the age. Jesus sends the HS in Acts 2, we see the Person of the Holy Spirit fall like fire in power and thus enabling this small group of people in the upper room to become the worlds most elite evangelical team ever seen.
Who can stop the truth – truth is built of solid foundations that cannot be broken, truth is built on the rock which is Christ, and it is this rock which the church was built on. Who can stop love, it burns like fire, whoever touches fire will become the fire and in the same way all open hearts who receive God’s love will burn within. The love in the gospel of peace spread from heart to heart, first 3000 were saved then 5000, still it spread from Judea to Samaria , to the uttermost ends of the world. Even Saul, the fiery persecutor of the church melted at the brightness of the truth, he changed from the churches chief oppressor to the key evangelist of the good news.
Paul went on three missionary journeys till finally He arrived at Rome. Acts ends on a seemingly anti-climax. Chapter 27 ends with Paul, under house arrest, just writing epistles of the new testament. However acts chapter 27 is not the end but the beginning of the church, in fact acts is still going on , for we are now the church acting, we are now the bringers of the gospel, instrument of righteousness to be used by God for His glory.
