His servants took his body in a carriage from Megiddo to Jerusalem. They buried him there. The people of the land crowned Josiah's son Jehoahaz as their new king in Jerusalem in place of his father. Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king. He was king in Jerusalem for three months. The king of Egypt removed him from office in Jerusalem and fined the country seven thousand five hundred pounds of silver and seventy-five pounds of gold.
