Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood -- "two cubits and a half was the length of it, a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it. He overlaid it with pure gold within and without and made a molding or crown of gold to go around the top of it. He cast four rings of gold for its four corners, two rings on either side. read more.
He made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold. He put the poles through the rings at the sides of the ark to carry it.

So I made an ark of acacia wood and cut out two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.


The Lord said to Moses, Cut two tables of stone like the first, and I will write upon these tables the words that were on the first tables, which you broke. Be ready and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain. And no man shall come up with you, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mountain; neither let flocks or herds feed before that mountain. read more.
So Moses cut two tables of stone like the first, and he rose up early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand two tables of stone.

And the Lord said to Moses, Write these words, for after the purpose and character of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread and drank no water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that the skin of his face shone and sent forth beams by reason of his speaking with the Lord.

At that time the Lord said to me, Hew two tables of stone like the first and come up to Me on the mountain and make an ark of wood. And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark. So I [Moses] made an ark of acacia wood and hewed two tables of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tables of stone in my [one] hand. read more.
And the Lord wrote on the tables as at the first writing, the Ten Commandments which the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly; and the Lord gave them to me. And I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as the Lord commanded me.


So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to follow, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

“The Lord spoke these words with a great voice to all your assembly at the mountain out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, and He added no more. He wrote these commandments on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

Now the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandments which I have written for their instruction.”

When I went up the mountain to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you, I remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I neither ate food nor drank water. And the Lord delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them were all the words which the Lord spoke with you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. And at the end of forty days and forty nights the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.

At that time the Lord said to me, Hew two tables of stone like the first and come up to Me on the mountain and make an ark of wood. And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark. So I [Moses] made an ark of acacia wood and hewed two tables of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tables of stone in my [one] hand.
