Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
Command the people: You are about to travel through the territory of your brothers, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, so you must be very careful. Don't fight with them, for I will not give you any of their land, not even an inch of it, because I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as [his] possession.
The Horites had previously lived in Seir, but the descendants of Esau drove them out, destroying them completely and settling in their place, just as Israel did in the land of its possession the Lord gave them.

This was just as He had done for the descendants of Esau who lived in Seir, when He destroyed the Horites before them; they drove them out and have lived in their place until now.
Let my lord go ahead of his servant. I will continue on slowly, at a pace suited to the livestock and the children, until I come to my lord at Seir.”
So Esau (that is, Edom) lived in the mountains of Seir. These are the family records of Esau, father of the Edomites in the mountains of Seir.

This was the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness while he was pasturing the donkeys of his father Zibeon. These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah. These are Dishon's sons: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran. These are Ezer's sons: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. These are Dishan's sons: Uz and Aran.
