I say of Jehovah, My refuge and my fortress; my God, I will confide in him. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the destructive pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou find refuge: his truth is a shield and buckler.



My son, observe thy father's commandment, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother; bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck: when thou walkest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. read more.
For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:


And such confidence have we through the Christ towards God: not that we are competent of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our competency is of God; who has also made us competent, as ministers of the new covenant; not of letter, but of spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens.



A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh life merry; but money answereth everything.




Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength; but the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

If the iron be blunt, and one do not whet the edge, then must he apply more strength; but wisdom is profitable to give success.

Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.


for wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not equal to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find the knowledge which cometh of reflection. The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil; pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth do I hate. read more.
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am intelligence; I have strength.

Wisdom is too high for a fool: he will not open his mouth in the gate.

Wisdom is as good as an inheritance, and profitable to them that see the sun. For wisdom is a defence as money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom maketh them that possess it to live.



Through wisdom is a house built, and by understanding it is established;

Wisdom crieth without; she raiseth her voice in the broadways; she calleth in the chief place of concourse, in the entry of the gates; in the city she uttereth her words: How long, simple ones, will ye love simpleness, and scorners take pleasure in their scorning, and the foolish hate knowledge? read more.
