Reed » Used as a measuring device (six cubits)
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod, and he said unto me, Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those that worship therein.
Moreover, when ye shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, ye shall separate a lot for the LORD of the land which ye shall consecrate: the length shall be the length of twenty-five thousand reeds, and the breadth shall be ten thousand. This shall be holy in all its borders round about.

And behold a wall on the outside of the house, and the measuring reed which that man had in his hand, was six cubits long, of a cubit and a hand breadth; so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed. read more.
Then he came unto the gate which looks toward the east and went up the stairs thereof and measured the post of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other post of the gate, which was one reed broad. And those men went and passed through the land, drawing it by cities into seven parts in a book and came again to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh.
