Then said Abram to Sarai, "Behold, thy maid is in thy hand, do with her as it pleaseth thee." And because Sarai fared foul with her, she fled from her.


And he took Joseph and put him in prison: even in the place where the king's prisoners lay bound. And there continued he in prison,

And the Egyptians held the children of Israel in bondage without mercy,

Then David said unto him, "To whom belongest thou and whence art thou?" And the lad answered, "I am an Egyptian and servant to an Amalekite: and my master left me behind, because it is three days a gone that I fell sick.


Then said Abram to Sarai, "Behold, thy maid is in thy hand, do with her as it pleaseth thee." And because Sarai fared foul with her, she fled from her.

Moreover of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed." And Abraham rose up early in the morning and took bread and a bottle with water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulders with the lad also, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered up and down in the wilderness of Beersheba.


Then said Sarai unto Abram, "Thou dost me unright, for I have given my maid into thy bosom: and now because she seeth that she hath conceived, I am despised in her sight: the LORD judge between thee and me." Then said Abram to Sarai, "Behold, thy maid is in thy hand, do with her as it pleaseth thee." And because Sarai fared foul with her, she fled from her.

Sarai, Abram's wife, bare him no children. But she had a handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar. Wherefore she said unto Abram, "Behold the LORD hath closed me, that I can not bear. Then she said, "Here is my maid, Bilhah: go in unto her, that she may bear upon my lap, that I may be increased by her."

When Lea saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife.


Then said Abram to Sarai, "Behold, thy maid is in thy hand, do with her as it pleaseth thee." And because Sarai fared foul with her, she fled from her.


And the Angel of the LORD said unto her, "Return to thy mistress again, and submit thyself under her hands."


and have gotten oxen, asses and sheep, menservants and womenservants, and have sent to show it my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.'"
