And God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here I am. And he said, I am God, the God of thy father. Fear not to go down into Egypt, for I will there make of thee a great nation. I will go down with thee into Egypt, and I will also surely bring thee up again, and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.

And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. And he touched upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set. And he took one of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep. For I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

And God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him. And God said to him, Thy name is Jacob. Thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name. And he called his name Israel. And God said to him, I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins. read more.
And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to thee, and I will give the land to thy seed after thee. And God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.

Israel also came into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. I will go down with thee into Egypt, and I will also surely bring thee up again, and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes. And Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. And they took up their goods, and all their property, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, they came into the land of Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him: the sons, and the sons of his sons with him, [his] daughters, and the daughters of his daughters. And he brought all his seed into Egypt.

And Joseph having sent forth, he summoned Jacob his father. And all his kinfolk, in souls, were seventy-five. And Jacob went down into Egypt, and he perished, he and our fathers.
