But, Jesus, made some little less than messengers, we do behold: by reason of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour, to the end that, by favour of God, in behalf of every one, he might taste of death. For, not surely of messengers, is he laying hold, but, of Abraham's seed, he is laying hold. Whence he was obliged, in every way, unto the brethren, to be made like, that he might become a merciful and faithful high-priest, in the things pertaining unto God, - for the making of propitiation for the sins of the people. For, in that, he, suffered when tested, he is able, unto them who are being tested, to give succour.
