Now many women were also there, watching from a distance. They had accompanied Jesus from Galilee and had ministered to him. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.
as well as some women who had been healed of evil spirits and illnesses: Mary, also called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out; Joanna, the wife of Herod's household manager Chuza; Susanna; and many others. These women continued to support them out of their personal resources.
Meanwhile, Mary stood crying outside the tomb. As she cried, she bent over and looked into the tomb. After she had said this, she turned around and noticed Jesus standing there, without realizing that it was Jesus. Jesus asked her, "Dear lady, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she told him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away." Jesus told her, "Mary!" She turned around and told him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" (which means "Teacher"). Jesus told her, "Don't hold on to me, because I haven't yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, "I'm ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'" So Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, "I've seen the Lord!" She also told them what he had told her.
After she had said this, she turned around and noticed Jesus standing there, without realizing that it was Jesus. Jesus asked her, "Dear lady, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she told him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away." Jesus told her, "Mary!" A large crowd of people followed him, including some women who kept mourning and wailing for him.
After the Sabbaths, around dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to take a look at the burial site. Suddenly, there was a powerful earthquake, because an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven, approached the stone, rolled it away, and was sitting on top of it. Trembling from fear, even the guards themselves became catatonic. Responding to the women, the angel said, "Stop being frightened! I know you're looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here. So the women who had come with Jesus from Galilee, following close behind, saw the tomb and how his body was laid. Then they went back and prepared spices and perfumes, and on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.
But at early dawn on the first day of the week, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they didn't find the body of the Lord Jesus. read more.
While they were puzzling over this, two men in dazzling robes suddenly stood beside them. While the women remained terrified, bowing their faces to the ground, the men asked them, "Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is living? He is not here, but has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: "The Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day.'" Then the women remembered Jesus' words. They returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven disciples and all the others. The women who told the apostles about it were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and some others.
While they were puzzling over this, two men in dazzling robes suddenly stood beside them. While the women remained terrified, bowing their faces to the ground, the men asked them, "Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is living? He is not here, but has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: "The Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day.'" Then the women remembered Jesus' words. They returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven disciples and all the others. On the first day of the week, early in the morning and while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and noticed that the stone had been removed from the tomb. So she ran off and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, whom Jesus kept loving. She told them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!"

Then Peter told Jesus, "Lord, it's good that we're here! If you want, I'll set up three shelters one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
That disciple whom Jesus kept loving told Peter, "It's the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his clothes back on, because he was practically naked, and jumped into the sea.
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
"Lord, why can't I follow you now?" Peter asked him. "I would lay down my life for you!"
So Peter and the other disciple took off for the tomb. The two of them were running together, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and came to the tomb first. Bending over to look inside, he noticed the linen cloths lying there, but didn't go in. read more.

After saying this, he showed them his hands and his side, and when they saw the Lord, the disciples were overjoyed.

They were at the tomb early this morning and didn't find his body there, so they came back and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who were saying that he was alive. How slow you are to believe everything the prophets said! The Messiah had to suffer these things and then enter his glory, didn't he?" But they strongly urged him, "Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the daylight is nearly gone." So he went in to stay with them. While he was at the table with them, he took the bread, blessed it, broke it in pieces, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they knew who he was. And he vanished from them. Then they asked each other, "Our hearts kept burning within us as he was talking to us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us, didn't they?" They got up right away, went back to Jerusalem, and found the eleven disciples and their companions all together. They kept saying, "The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon!" Then the two men began to tell what had happened on the road and how they had recognized him when he broke the bread in pieces. While they were all talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and told them, "Peace be with you." They were startled and terrified, thinking they were seeing a ghost. But Jesus told them, "What's frightening you? And why are you doubting? Look at my hands and my feet, because it's really me. Touch me and look at me, because a ghost doesn't have flesh and bones as you see that I have." After he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. Even though they were still skeptical due to their joy and astonishment, Jesus asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"

Mary took a litron of very expensive perfume made of pure nard and anointed Jesus' feet. She wiped his feet with her hair, and the house became filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was going to betray him, asked, "Why wasn't this perfume sold for 300 denarii and the money given to the destitute?" read more.
