Is not this the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brothers, James and Joses and Simon and Judas?

While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood without, desiring to speak to him.

His mother and his brothers came, therefore, and standing without, sent to him, and called him.

After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brothers and his disciples. And they continued there not many days.

Then his brothers said to him: Depart hence, and go into Judea, that your disciples may see your works which you do;


Have we not the right to lead about a sister wife, as the other apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

but of the apostles I saw no other, but James the brother of the Lord.


Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where we ought to worship.

And his parents went up every year to Jerusalem, at the feast of passover.

After this was the feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

And after this Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him. Now the feast of tabernacles, a feast of the Jews, was near. Then his brothers said to him: Depart hence, and go into Judea, that your disciples may see your works which you do; read more.
for no one does any thing in secret, while he himself seeks to be before the public. If you do these things, show yourself to the world. For neither did his brothers believe on him. Then Jesus said to them: My time has not yet come; but your time is always ready. The world can not hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that its works are evil. Do you go up to this feast. I go not up now to this feast, because my time has not yet fully come. These things said he to them, and remained in Galilee. But when his brothers had gone up, then he also went up to the feast, not openly, but, as it were, in secret. Then the Jews sought for him at the feast, and said: Where is he? And there was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said: He is a good man. Others said: No; but he deceives the multitude. However, no one spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews. Now in the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.


And it came to pass, as the time for him to be taken up into heaven had fully come, that he set his face steadfastly to go up to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers before his face; and they went, and entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was turned toward Jerusalem. read more.
And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said: Lord, is it thy will that we command fire to come down from heaven and destroy them, even as Elijah did? But he turned and rebuked them, and said: You know not of what spirit you are. And they went to another village. And it came to pass, as they were going on their journey, that a certain man said to him: Lord, I will follow thee wherever thou shalt go. And Jesus said to him: The foxes have dens, and the birds of the air have roosts, but the Son of man has not where to lay his head. And he said to another: Follow me. But he replied: Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said: Let the dead bury their own dead; but do you go and publish abroad the kingdom of God. And another said: I will follow thee, Lord; but first permit me to take leave of those at home. Jesus said to him: No one that puts his hand to the plow, and looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
