Then the Pharisees, going, took counsel how they might ensnare Him in speech. And they send to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that Thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one; for Thou dost not look into the face of men: tell us, therefore, what thinkest Thou: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?"

And they were not able to lay hold of any saying of His before the people; and, marvelling at His answer, they were silent.

And, hearing it, they wondered: and, leaving Him, they went away.
