Now also is the axe laid unto the root of the trees: So that every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit shall be hewn down, and cast into the fire." And the people asked him, saying, "What shall we do then?" He answered and said unto them, "He that hath two coats, let him part with him that hath none: And he that hath meat, let him do likewise." Then came there publicans to be baptised, and said unto him, "Master, what shall we do?" And he said unto them, "Require no more than that which is appointed unto you." The soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, "And what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Do violence to no man: neither trouble any man wrongfully: But be content with your wages."

I have baptised you with water: but he shall baptise you with the holy ghost." And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth, a city of Galilee, and was baptised of John in Jordan. And they asked him, and said unto him, "Why baptisest thou then, if thou be not Christ, nor Elijah, neither a prophet?" John answered them, saying, "I baptise with water: but one is come among you, whom ye know not.

and I knew him not: but that he should be declared to Israel, therefore am I come, baptising with water.'"

But he that sent me to baptise in water, the same said unto me, 'Upon whom thou shalt see the spirit descend, and tarry still on him, the same is he which baptiseth with the holy ghost.'

and John also baptised in Enon, besides Salim, because there was much water there, and they came, and were baptised.

and went away again beyond Jordan, into the place where John before had baptised, and there abode.

When they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts, and said unto Peter, and unto the other apostles, "Ye men and brethren, what shall we do?" Peter said unto them, "Repent, and be baptised every one of of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the holy ghost.


Then came there publicans to be baptised, and said unto him, "Master, what shall we do?"

Then sent Jesus the people away, and came to house. And his disciples came unto him, saying, "Declare unto us the similitude of the tares in the field."

And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked him of the similitude.

And when he came into a house away from the people, his disciples asked him of the similitude,

And they asked him, saying, "Why then Say the scribes, that Elijah must first come?"


And in the house his disciples asked him again of that matter.

"When shall these things be? And what is the sign, when all these things shall be fulfilled?"

And it fortuned, as he was praying in a certain place: when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, "Master, teach us to pray; As John taught his disciples."

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, "Good Master: what ought I to do, to obtain eternal life?"

Then said they unto him, "What shall we do that we might work the works of God?"
