Ye are they who have continued with me in my temptations.


And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan: and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.

For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken by both her kings.

Then was Jesus led by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou art the son of God, command that these stones be made bread. read more.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith to him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall uphold thee, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said to him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up upon an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them, And saith to him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus to him, Be gone, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.

And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he ate nothing; and when they were ended, he was afterward hungry. And the devil said to him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. read more.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. And the devil taking him up upon a high mountain, showed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. And Jesus answered and said to him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, If thou art the son of God, cast thyself down from hence. For it is written, He will give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they will bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. And Jesus answering, said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again to a mountain himself alone.

And the devil taking him up upon a high mountain, showed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. read more.
And Jesus answered and said to him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.


And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then saith he to me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them who keep the sayings of this book: worship God.





Give to the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give to the LORD glory and strength. Give to the LORD the glory due to his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.


With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them: But the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an out-stretched arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. read more.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
