And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise; she took of its fruit, and ate, and gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked: and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made for themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. To the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children: and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And the LORD God said, Behold, the man hath become as one of us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he should put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. So he drove out the man: and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

That as sin hath reigned to death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

The wicked are estranged from their birth: they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that whatever things the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

For in many things we all offend. If any man offendeth not in word, the same is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
