He said, Bring them hither to me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass; and taking the five loaves and the two fishes, looking up to heaven, he blessed and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they all ate and were satisfied: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand, beside women and children.

And when the day was now far spent, the disciples coming to him said, This is a desert place, and it is now late. Send them away, that they may go into the country and villages round about, and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat. He answered and said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they say to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? read more.
He saith to them, How many loaves have you? Go and see. And when they knew, they said, Five, and two fishes. And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies on the green grass. And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties. And taking the five loaves, and the two fishes, looking up to heaven, he blessed, and gave them to the disciples to set before them: and he divided the two fishes among them all. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments and of the fishes. And they that had eaten of the loaves, were about five thousand men.

And the day began to decline. And the twelve coming to him said, send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge and find victuals: for we are here in a desert place. But he said to them, give ye them to eat. And they said, we have no more than five loaves and two fishes, except we should go and buy meat for all this people. For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down, by fifties in a company. read more.
And they did so, and made them all sit down. Then taking the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. Jesus then lifting up his eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming to him, saith to Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? (But this he said, trying him; for he himself knew what he intended to do.) Philip answered him, Two hundred penny-worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that each of them may take a little. read more.
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith to him, Here is a lad, who hath five barley-loaves and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? Jesus said, Make the men sit down. (Now there was much grass in the place) So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. Then Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were sat down, and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, he saith to his disciples, Gather up the fragments which remain, that nothing be lost. They therefore gathered them, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten. Then those men, having seen the miracle which Jesus did, said, Of a truth this is the prophet that was to come into the world.

And Jesus hearing it, withdrew thence by ship into a desert place apart: but when the people heard thereof, they followed him by land out of the cities. And going forth he saw a great multitude, and was moved with tender compassion for them, and healed their sick.
