And John answered him and said: Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and he does not follow us: and we forbade him, because he does not follow us. But Jesus said: Forbid him not; for there is no one that will do a mighty deed in my name, and be able readily to speak evil of me. For he that is not against us, is for us. For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink on this account, because you are Christ s, verily I say to you, he shall not lose his reward. And whoever will ensnare one of these little ones that believe on me, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. And if your hand ensnare you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter maimed into life, than having two hands to go away into hell, into the fire that is not quenched, where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched. And if your foot en snare you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter into life lame, than having two feet to Be thrown into hell, into the fire that is not quenched, where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched. And if your eye ensnare you, pull it out: it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be thrown into hell-fire, where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched. For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be seasoned with salt. Salt is good; but if the salt shall have become saltless, by what means will you season it? Have salt in your selves, and be at peace with one another.

But Jesus perceived the thought of their heart, and he took a little child, and made it stand by him, and said to them: Whoever will receive this little child on my account, receives me; and whoever will receive me, receives him that sent me.
