He was always trying to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs used to come and lick his sores.

Jonathan told his armor bearer, "Come, let's go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised ones. Perhaps the LORD will work for us, since nothing prevents the LORD from delivering, whether by many or by a few."

David asked the men who were standing by him, "What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? Indeed, who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?"

Suddenly, a Canaanite woman from that territory came near and began to shout, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed!" But he didn't answer her at all. Then his disciples came up and kept urging him, "Send her away, because she keeps on screaming as she follows us." As they approached the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, knelt down in front of him, and said, "Sir, have mercy on my son, because he is an epileptic and suffers terribly. Often he falls into fire and often into water. I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn't heal him." read more.
Jesus replied, "You unbelieving and perverted generation! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me!" Then Jesus rebuked the demon and it came out of him, and the boy was healed that very hour.

When Jesus arrived on the other side in the region of the Gerasenes, two demon-possessed men met him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could travel on that road. Suddenly, they screamed, "What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to torture us before the proper time?" Now a large herd of pigs was grazing some distance away from them. read more.
So the demons began to plead with Jesus, saying, "If you drive us out, send us into that herd of pigs." He told them, "Go," and they came out and went into the pigs. Suddenly, the whole herd rushed down a steep slope into the sea and drowned in the water.

All of a sudden, there was a man in their synagogue who had an unclean spirit! He screamed, "What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are the Holy One of God!" But Jesus rebuked him. "Be quiet," he ordered, "and come out of him!" read more.
At this, the unclean spirit shook the man, cried out with a loud voice, and came out of him. All the people were so stunned that they kept saying to each other, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He tells even the unclean spirits what to do, and they obey him!"


She said, "Yes, Lord. But even the puppies eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' tables."

I tell you, even though that man doesn't want to get up and give him anything because he is his friend, he will get up and give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.

So on the second day of the New Moon Jonathan angrily got up from the table without eating because he was upset about David, and because his father had humiliated him.
