He who is greatest among you shall be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" He called to him a little child, and put him in the midst of them, and he said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

And an argument arose among them as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by him, and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great."

For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!" Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this. A dispute also arose among them, which of them was to be considered the greatest. read more.

But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the youngest, and he who leads as one who serves. For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Whoever then breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. And those who went before and those who followed cried out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!"
