The Pharisees came, testing him, and saying, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?" He answered, and said, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall join to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?' read more.
So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart." They asked him, "Why then did Moses command us to give her a certificate of divorce, and divorce her?" He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so. I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery."

For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife, and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." In the house, the disciples asked him again about the same matter. He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her. If she herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery."

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be. Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For, "The two," says he, "will become one flesh."

Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ also does the church; because we are members of his body. read more.
