This man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given him. And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock, and having rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, went away. Having said this, she turned back, and beheld Jesus standing; and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? whom dost thou seek? She, supposing that it was the gardener, saith to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith to her, Mary! She turned and saith to him in Hebrew, Rabboni! Which signifieth, Teacher! Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God. Mary the Magdalene cometh, bringing word to the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her.
Having said this, she turned back, and beheld Jesus standing; and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? whom dost thou seek?
