Jehovah said to Moses and Aaron: You did not trust me! You did not show the Israelites how holy I am! So you will not bring this congregation into the land I am giving them.

So the sons of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses came to an end.

They grieved and mourned and fasted until evening for Saul and Jonathan and for Israel, the people of Jehovah, because so many had been killed in battle.
