Ahab said to Obadiah: Come! Let us go through all the country, to all the fountains of water and all the rivers. Let us see if there is any grass for the horses and the transport beasts. We must save some of the livestock.

King Ahab told his wife Jezebel everything Elijah had done. He told how he put all the prophets of Baal to death.

He sent messengers into the city to King Ahab of Israel to say: King Benhadad demands that

He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple. Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately:

One of the two, who heard John speak and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

Concerning that I say, that each one of you said, I follow Paul; and I follow Apollos; and I follow Cephas; and I follow Christ.

While one said, I belong to Paul; and another, I belong to Apollos; are you not fleshly human beings?

Concerning our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come to you with the brothers but his will was not at all to come at this time. He will come when he has a convenient time.

Send Zenas, the lawyer, and Apollos on their journey quickly and see that they lack nothing.

When the people saw it, they all went down on their faces. They said: Jehovah is God! Jehovah is God!

While Ezra was saying his prayer and his confession of wrongdoing he wept and fell down before the house of God. A very great number of men and women and children out of Israel came together around him, for the people were weeping bitterly.

The people asked him: What must we do?

God said to Balaam: Do not go with them! Do not curse these people. They are blessed!

Included in those killed were the five kings of Midian-Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba. They also killed Balaam, son of Beor, in battle.

Look, these women caused the Israelites, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor. Thus the congregation of Jehovah experienced the plague.

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him. Remember from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of Jehovah.

He raises the poor from the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill to set them among the princes. He causes them to inherit a throne of glory (honor). The pillars of the earth are Jehovah's. He sets the world on them.

God said: Let the waters be filled with many kinds of living beings, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.

Here are the kinds of birds you must consider disgusting and must not eat. They are eagles, bearded vultures, black vultures,

the birds, the fish, whatever swims in the currents of the seas.

He gave the children of men, the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens to your hand. He made you the ruler over them all! You are the head of gold.

The Philistines captured him and put his eyes out. They took him to Gaza, chained him with copper chains. They put him to work grinding at the mill in the prison.

So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the bodyguard. It was the same place where Joseph was imprisoned.

They held him in custody until they decided what to do with him.

Now his people have been plundered. They are locked up in dungeons and hidden away in prisons. They were robbed and plundered, with no one to come to their rescue.

Then he blinded Zedekiah and put him in bronze shackles. The king of Babylon took him to Babylon and put him in a prison, where he stayed until he died.

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain. Through this he was commended as righteous. God testified about his gifts. Thus through faith he still speaks even though he is dead.

Woe to them! They went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in the rebellious talk of Korah.

Cain went out from Jehovah's presence and lived in the land of Nod (Fugitiveness). Nod is east of Eden.

He has become better than the angels and has inherited a more excellent name than theirs.

The scriptures say: I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, chosen and precious (Isaiah 28:16). He who believes in him will not be disappointed (shamed).

Therefore this is what The Sovereign Lord Jehovah says: Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation. It is a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; whoever believes will not act hastily.

Everyone who hears my words, and does them is like a wise man that builds his house on a rock.

They store up for them a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life that is life indeed.

All your commandments are faithful. They have persecuted me with a lie; help me!

Many are my persecutors and my adversaries. Even so I do not turn aside from your law.

Powerful people persecute me without cause. Yet my heart stands in awe of your words.

For the enemy has persecuted me. He has crushed my life to the ground. He has made me dwell in dark places, like those who have long been dead.

Then I said: O Jehovah you understand. Remember me and help me. Let me have revenge on those who persecute me. Do not be so patient with them that they succeed in killing me. Remember that it is for your sake that I have suffered reproach.

Our attackers are on our necks. We are overcome with weariness and we have no rest.

I know that after my departing grievous wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Some men came down from Judea to teach the brothers. They said: You cannot be saved unless you become circumcised according to the custom of Moses.

This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

Any male not circumcised in the flesh will be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant.

Joshua made sharp knives, and circumcised the men of Israel at the Hill of Circumcision.

Paul wanted to have him travel with him. So he had him circumcised because of the Jews who were in the area. For they knew that his father was a Greek.

Is any man called being circumcised? He should not become uncircumcised. Is any called who is not circumcised? He should not be circumcised.

Titus was with me and he was not persuaded to be circumcised. He is a Greek.

Behold, I Paul say to you, that, if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.

Those who desire to make a showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised. This is done so they may not be persecuted for the stake of Christ.

Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city. Would you also destroy the place and not spare it because the righteous people are there?

He gathered all the food of these seven years that occurred in the land of Egypt and placed the food in the cities. He placed in every city the food from its own surrounding fields.

It shall be like the time when Jehovah your God brought you into the land he promised to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. He would give you large and beautiful cities that you did not build.

I will remove your (godess) Astarte from your midst. I will destroy your cities.

If anyone does not keep the law of your God and the law of the king, take care that punishment is given to him. This is by death or by driving him from his country or by taking away his goods or by putting him in prison.

I counsel you: Keep the king's command because of the oath before God.

We will not cause them trouble. Go to the sea, and let down a hook, and take the first fish you catch. You will see money (a stater coin) in its mouth. Give it to them for me and for you.

Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it is to the king, or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do good.

One nation crushed another nation. One city crushed another. God tormented them with every kind of trouble.

Do not lose courage or be afraid when rumors are heard in the land. One rumor comes one year; another rumor comes the next year. Rumors of violence are in the land. Rumors that one ruler will fight against another are in the land.

When you hear of wars and rumors (reports) of wars do not be troubled. These things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Then he said: Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes. There will be famines and pestilences in various places. There shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.

You pay special attention to the one wearing the fine clothes, and say: Sit here in a good place. Then you say to the poor man: Stand there, or Sit under my footstool.

I will not be ashamed when I look upon all your commandments.

These words that I command you this day must be in your heart.

Obey every commandment I command you today. Then you may be strong and go in and possess the land you will cross over to possess.

His answer to them was in the form of a question: Why do you go against the word of God in favor of your tradition?

If any man is hungry let him eat at home. That way you come together without condemnation. I will give direction to care for other matters when I come.

You know that man sins and is perverted. He is self-condemned.

Above all things, my brothers do not swear by heaven, or by earth, or by any other oath. Let your Yes be Yes and your No be No. That way you will not fall under judgment.

If the whole congregation of Israel commits error and the matter escapes the notice of the assembly, and they commit any of the things that Jehovah commands not to be done they become guilty.

The man who cursed my name must be taken outside the camp. All who heard him curse my name must lay their hands on his head. Then the whole congregation must stone him to death.

If the mistake was made because of the ignorance of the congregation, they are to offer a bull as a burnt offering, an odor that pleases Jehovah. Use the proper grain offering and wine offering. In addition, they are to offer a male goat as a sin offering.

No man whose testicles have been crushed or whose penis is cut off shall enter the assembly of Jehovah.

Paul looked straight at the Council and said: Fellow Israelites! My conscience is perfectly clear about the way in which I have lived before God to this very day.

They show the work of the law written in their hearts. Their conscience also bears witness, and their thoughts accuse or excuse them.

You must be in subjection, not only because of that wrath, but also for the sake of your conscience.

Not all people know this. Some eat food offered to idols and their conscience being weak is defiled.

Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without asking questions for the sake of conscience.

We know what it means to respect the Lord so we persuade others. God knows us and I hope that you know us in your hearts (consciences).

Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and establish a willing spirit in me. I will teach your ways to transgressors, and sinners will turn to you.

My brothers, if any among you strays from the truth, and one brings him back, let him know, that he who turns a sinner back from the error of his way will save a person from death, and cover a multitude of sins.

The next day we landed at Sidon. Julius treated Paul in a kind way and gave him liberty to go to his friends to refresh himself.

He loved to put curses on others, so he, too, was cursed. He did not like to bless others, so he never received a blessing.

Often your own heart knows you have also cursed others.

Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. (Psalm 10:7)

Now among these children of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

Daniel sent an answer tempered with counsel and prudence to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, who was ordered to execute the wise men of Babylon.

Daniel answered the king: Keep your gifts and give your rewards to another. I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Daniel said to the king: O king, may you live for a very long time.

It was the first year of his reign. I, Daniel, understood from The Books (Holy Scriptures) the number of the years in the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet. It was seventy years since the destruction of Jerusalem.

Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in that country, they would, by their righteousness, rescue only themselves,' declares the Lord Jehovah.

You think that you are wiser than Daniel and that no secret can be hidden from you.

Deliver this one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

He that was dead came out. He was bound hand and foot with grave-clothes and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus commanded them: Unwrap him and let him go.

Now Deborah, the wife of Lappidoth, was a prophet, and she was serving as a judge for the Israelites at that time.

Deborah said to Barak: Get up, for this is the day in which Jehovah has delivered Sisera into your hand. Jehovah has gone out before you. So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him.

That day Deborah and Barak sang this song:

Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, even he who denies the Father and the Son.

Peter was seated in the square outside the house, and a servant-girl came to him. She said: You were with Jesus the Galilean. In front of everybody, he replied: I do not know what you are talking about.

When the apostles returned they told Jesus about the things they had done. They traveled to the city of Bethsaida.

They went away in the boat to a secluded place.

The next day he went to a secluded place. The crowds followed him. They did not want him to leave them.

Then they said: The God of the Hebrews met with us. Please, let us go on a three-day journey into the wilderness. Then we may sacrifice to Jehovah our God. Otherwise he will fall upon us with pestilence or with the sword.

I am crushed and long for your ordinances at all times.

I yearn for you in the night. In the morning I long for you with all my being. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.

Blessed are you who hunger now for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now: for you shall laugh.

All the people of Judah were overjoyed because of the oath. They took the oath wholeheartedly. They took great pleasure in looking for Jehovah. And he let them find him. So Jehovah surrounded them with rest and peace.

([[Psalm of David] in the wilderness of Judah:]) O God, you are my God. At dawn I search for you. I thirst for you. My body longs for you in a dry, parched land where there is no water.

I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I longed for your commandments.

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him saying: Teacher, we want you to do for us what we ask of you.

You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

How are they destroyed, suddenly! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

The company of the godless will be barren. And fire will consume the tents of those who love bribes.

Let those who say to me: Aha! Aha! Be stunned by their shame.

Behold, your house is left desolate.

Moses reported this to the Israelites. But they would not listen to him. For they were so discouraged by their backbreaking work.

You will lose your mind (experience insanity) because of all the suffering.

Jehovah also said: Son of man, all the people of Israel are like these bones. The people say: Our bones are dry, and our hope has vanished. We are completely destroyed.

The sun and stars did not appear for many days. No small tempest pressed upon us. All hope of our being saved was taken away.

He instructs him in right judgment and his God teaches him.

The king said to Joseph: God has shown you all this. Therefore it is obvious that you have greater wisdom and insight than anyone else.

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician (healer) there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?

Why do you still want to be beaten? Why do you continue to rebel? Your whole head is infected. Your whole heart is sick.

Samaria's wound is incurable! It came as far as Judah. It even reached to the gate of my people, Jerusalem.

Jesus has obtained a more excellent ministry. The covenant that he arranged between God and his people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things.

You have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads (thousands of thousands) of angels,

It was necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these. But the heavenly things should be cleansed with better sacrifices than these.

The words once more plainly show that the created things will be shaken and removed, so that the things that cannot be shaken will remain.

Hezekiah received the envoys gladly and showed them what was in his storehouses. He showed them the silver, the gold, the spices, the fine oil, his entire armory and everything found among his treasures. There was nothing in his palace or in his entire kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.

For a long time, even a hundred and eighty days, he let them see all the wealth and the glory of his kingdom and the great power and honor that was his.

He gave them an account of the glories of his wealth. The number of children he had. He recalled the ways in which he had been honored by the king. How the king put him over the captains and servants of the king.

Beware of the scribes for they walk around in long robes. They love greetings in the marketplaces. They sit in the chief seats in the synagogues and the head tables at feasts.

The next day Agrippa and Bernice arrived with great elegance. They entered the place of hearing with the commanders and important men of the city. Festus gave the order for Paul to be brought in.

Jehovah of Hosts has spoken: Every man should execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion to his brother!

These are the things that you should do. Every man should speak the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates (towns).

Now, O Israel, what does Jehovah your God require from you? You are to respect Jehovah your God. Walk in all his ways and love him! Serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your being.

He said: Listen to my words: 'When there are prophets of Jehovah among you, I make myself known to them in visions or speak to them in dreams.

The prophet who has had a dream should say it is only a dream. The prophet who has heard my message should proclaim that message faithfully. What good is chaff compared with wheat? Says Jehovah.

In the last days I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions! (Ac 2:17; Isa 44:3)

There is futility and emptiness in many dreams and in many words. Reverence God.

you shatter me with dreams. You terrify me with visions.'

You pay special attention to the one wearing the fine clothes, and say: Sit here in a good place. Then you say to the poor man: Stand there, or Sit under my footstool.

He died at a very old age, wealthy and respected, and his son Solomon succeeded him as king.

I will make sure you are richly rewarded. I will do whatever you ask. Please, come and curse (execrate) these people for me.'

Jehovah gave Jehoshaphat firm control over the kingdom of Judah. The people brought him gifts, so that he became wealthy and highly honored.

Hezekiah became richer and was highly honored. He prepared storehouses for himself to hold silver, gold, precious stones, spices, shields, and all kinds of valuables.

A sword will kill their horses, their chariots, and all the foreigners within their ranks. They will become women. A sword will destroy their treasures, and they will be looted.

A time is coming when the people of Egypt will be as timid as women. They will tremble in terror when they see that Jehovah of Hosts has stretched out his hand (extended His power) to punish them.

The warriors of Babylon have stopped fighting. They stay in their fortified cities. Their strength has failed. They have become women. Their buildings are set on fire. The bars across their gates are broken.

Look! Your soldiers are like women! The gates of your land are wide open to your enemies. Fire will destroy the bars of your gates.

He said to them: Do not be amazed. Jesus the Nazarene, who has been impaled, is not here. He has risen. Behold, the place where they laid him!

Jesus touched them and told them to get up and not be afraid.

The following night the Lord stood by him and said: Be of good courage, Paul, for just as you testified about me in Jerusalem, so you also must bear witness at Rome.

Josiah appointed the priests to their duties and encouraged them to serve in Jehovah's Temple.

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these, saying: Behold, Jehovah came with many thousands of his holy ones.

the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan,

After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years and had other sons and daughters.

By faith Enoch was moved (transferred) (removed) so that he would not see death. He was not found, because God had moved him away. Before he was moved away he saw that he had pleased God well. (Genesis 5:24)

Jacob gave him some bread and some of the soup. He ate and drank and then got up and left. Esau did not care about his birthright.

No sooner had Isaac finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob left his presence, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

This is the genealogy of Esau, who is Edom, and his descendants.

Jehovah says: What bad thing (injustice) did your fathers find in me that they went so far away from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless (lead astray) themselves.

I will do this to recapture the hearts of the nation of Israel. They have deserted me because of their disgusting idols.'

But the Levites, who went far from me when Israel went astray, who went astray from me after their idols, will bear the punishment for their iniquity.

Was it not in these things that Solomon, king of Israel, did wrong? Among a number of nations there was no king like him. He was dear to his God, and God made him king over all Israel. But even he was made to do evil by strange women.

His wife asked him: Are you still holding on to your principles? Curse God and die!

It was Herod's birthday. The daughter of Herodias danced for him and pleased him.

When Jezebel massacred the prophets of Jehovah, Obadiah took a hundred of them, and hid them secretly in a hole in the rock, fifty at a time, and gave them bread and water.

She sent a message to Elijah: May the gods strike me dead if by this time tomorrow I do not do the same thing to you that you did to the prophets.

Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him: Let a pillar, fifty cubits high, be made ready for hanging him. In the morning get the king to give orders for the hanging of Mordecai. Then you will be able to go to the feast with the king with a glad heart. Haman was pleased with the suggestion, and he had the pillar made.

Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! When the morning comes they do it because they are able to (it is in the power of their hands).

He plans wickedness upon his bed. He walks on a path that is not good. He does not despise evil.

He who devises (plans) to do evil is called a troublemaker.

Do they not err that devise evil? Those who devise good will find loving kindness and truth.

He shuts his eyes to devise perversity. He moves his lips to bring evil.

As for a rogue, his weapons are evil. He devises wicked schemes to destroy the afflicted with slander, even though the needy one speaks what is right.

Jehovah said to me: Son of man, these are the men who plan evil and give bad advice in this city (Jerusalem).

The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit and he ceased to be wise and do good.

The tongue is like fire, the place of iniquity among our members. It defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of our life. It is set ablaze like the ever-burning fires in the Valley of Hinnom (Greek: Gehenna: symbolic of total destruction).

His speech was smoother than butter, but his heart was war! His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

You offspring of vipers. How can you who are evil speak good things? Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Enter through the narrow gate, since the gate to destruction is wide and the road that leads to destruction is wide and many enter through it.

Good understanding gives favor. The way of transgressors is hard.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah. He loves the one who follows after righteousness.

For their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.

They do not sleep unless they have done evil. Their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall.

Their feet run to do evil. They hurry to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are evil. Ruin and destruction are on their highways.

Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! When the morning comes they do it because they are able to (it is in the power of their hands).

Their feet are swift to shed blood. (Proverbs 1:15)

I will destroy anyone who secretly slanders his neighbor. I will not tolerate anyone with a conceited look or arrogant heart.

Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor. Do not trust any brother because every brother deals craftily (cunningly), and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.

I have heard the whispering of many people, terror on every side, while they made plans together against me. They were plotting to take my life.

A godless hypocrite destroys his neighbor with his mouth. The righteous will be delivered through knowledge.

I said to my heart, I have become great and have acquired more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Yes, my heart has seen an abundance of wisdom and knowledge.

Why have we fasted and you do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and you do not notice? Behold, on the day of your fast you find desire, and mistreat all your workers.'

Even if they go without food, I will not listen to their cries for help. Even if they sacrifice burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not be pleased with them. But I will destroy these people with wars, famines, and plagues.

Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying: 'For the past seventy years did you fast for me when you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months?

King Belshazzar held a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine with them.

Jehovah their God will save them in that day like the flock of his people. They will be like the stones in a crown lifted high over his land.

Dead flies cause the perfumer's oil to smell. A little foolishness does the same for the one with a reputation for wisdom and honor.

This is the final outcome for fools and their followers who are delighted by what they say:

The heart of one with understanding seeks knowledge. The mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

Then I saw that wisdom is better than foolish ways just as the light is better than the dark.

He who can hear should listen to what the Spirit says to the congregations! To those who overcome in victory I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give each of them a white stone on which is written a new name that no one knows except the one who receives it.'

Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

I will feed them in a good pasture, and their grazing ground will be on the mountain heights of Israel. There they will lie down on good grazing ground and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.

They all ate the same spiritual meal. They all drank the same spiritual drink, for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them. That Rock was (represented) (symbolic of) Christ! (Exodus 7:6) (Numbers 20:11)

Then those who escape will remember me among the nations where they are taken captive. I was hurt by their adulterous hearts, which turned away from me, and by their eyes, which lusted after idols. They will hate themselves for the evil and disgusting things that they have done.

I would not make request to the king for a band of armed men and horsemen to give us help against those who might attack us on the way. We said to the king: The hand (power) (protection) of our God is on his servants for good, but his power and his wrath are against all those who have turned away from him.

You left me, declares Jehovah. You turned your back on me. So I will stretch out my hand against you (use my power against you) and destroy you. I am tired of showing compassion to you.

My people have done two things wrong: (l) They have abandoned me, the fountain (source) of living waters. They have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. (Revelation 4:11)

Azariah went to Asa and said: Listen to me Asa and all you men from Judah and Benjamin. Jehovah is with you when you are with him. If you will dedicate your lives to serve him, he will accept you. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you.

I will pronounce judgment against my people because of all their wickedness. They abandoned me. They burned incense to other gods. They worshiped what their hands have made.

They will ask: 'Why has Jehovah our God done all this to us?' Answer them: You have abandoned me and served foreign gods in your land. So you will serve foreigners in a land that is not yours.'

When King Hiram of Tyre heard that Solomon succeeded his father as king he sent ambassadors to Solomon. He had always been a friend of David's.

The Lord grants mercy to the house of Onesiphorus: for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chains.

I find it necessary to send Epaphroditus to you. He is my brother and fellow-worker and fellow-soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need.

David finished talking to Saul. Jonathan became David's closest friend. He loved David as much as he loved himself.

He saw a fig tree along the side of the road. He went to it and saw nothing on it but leaves. He told it: You will not bare fruit from this time forward, forever. Immediately the fig tree became dry and dead.

Then God said: Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them. It was so.

The Lord Jehovah showed me a basket of summer fruit.

All kinds of fruit trees will grow on both sides of the river. Their leaves will not wither, and they will not fail to produce fruit. Each month they will produce fresh fruit because this water flows from the Holy Place. The fruit will be good food, and the leaves will be used for healing.

Some fell on good ground and yielded fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.

The angel of Jehovah came to the village of Ophrah. He sat under the oak tree that belonged to Joash, a man of the clan of Abiezer. His son Gideon was secretly threshing wheat in a wine press, so that the Midianites would not see him.

They captured the two Midianite chiefs, Oreb and Zeeb; they killed Oreb at Oreb Rock, and Zeeb at the Winepress of Zeeb. They continued to pursue the Midianites and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon, who was now east of the Jordan.

Gideon took the men to the water. Jehovah told him: Separate everyone who laps up the water with his tongue like a dog, from everyone who gets down on his knees to drink.

So Gideon took ten of his servants and did what Jehovah instructed him to do. He was afraid of his family and the people in town, so he did it at night.

I will be a speedy witness against those who swear falsely and take advantage of the stranger, and do not show me reverence, said Jehovah of Hosts.

Your righteousness is like the mountains of God. Your judgments are like great deep water. O Jehovah, you preserve man and beast.

Tell the sons of Israel: 'I am Jehovah. I will bring you out from under the oppression of the Egyptians. I will free you from slavery! I will rescue you with my powerful arm and with mighty acts of judgment.'

With pestilence and with blood I will enter into judgment on him. I will rain on him and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire and brimstone.

Jehovah said: That night I will go through the land of Egypt. I will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast. I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt! I am Jehovah!

Jehovah has revealed himself by his righteous judgments. The wicked are trapped by their deeds.

Thus I will execute judgments on Moab, and they will know that I am Jehovah.'

I will destroy Pathros, set fire to Zoan and bring punishment on Thebes.

I will show my greatness among the nations. All the nations will see how I will turn my power against them to punish them.

Let me publish with a voice of thanksgiving and recount all your wonders (miracles).

O Jehovah my God, Many are the wonders that you have done and your thoughts toward us. None can compare with you. If I would declare and teach about them, they would be too numerous to report.

I will praise you, for in an awesome way I am wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful and I know this very well.

Your way is perfect Jehovah. Your word is correct. You are a shield for those who run to you for help.

There is no rain in the land and the ground is cracked. The farmers are disappointed. They cover their heads.

I cry to you Jehovah! For fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame burned all the trees of the field.

I withheld rain from you three months before the harvest. I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city. One received rain. The other did not receive rain and it dried up.

I brought drought on the land and its hills, grain fields, vineyards, and olive orchards. Yes drought on every crop the ground produces, on people and animals, on everything you try to grow.

Elijah was a man of like passions with us. He prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.

Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?

He will not allow your foot to slip. He who keeps you will not slumber.

I will approach you people for judgment! I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, the adulterers and those acting fraudulently with the wages of the worker, the widow and the fatherless.

Moses said to Aaron: Take your incense burner, put burning coals from the altar and incense in it, and go quickly into the congregation to make peace with Jehovah for the people. Jehovah shows his anger! A plague has started.

If so, Jehovah will strike you and your descendants with unimaginable plagues. They will be terrible continuing plagues. They will be severe and lingering diseases.

If you act with hostility against me and are unwilling to obey me I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.

They died because they had returned and made the whole community complain about Moses. They spread lies about the land.

If others are partakers of the right over you, should we also partake? Nevertheless we have not used this power! We suffer all things, lest we should hinder the good news of Christ.

Pray on my behalf, that ability to speak may be given to me, to make known with boldness the secret of the good news.

They are dogs with mighty appetites. They never have enough! They are shepherds who lack understanding. They all turn to their own way and each one seeks dishonest (unjust) gain.

He coveted greedily all the daylong, but the righteous gives and does not spare.

We will find precious material possessions and we fill our houses with plunder.

So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for unjust dishonest gain. Greed takes away the life of its owner.

How blessed are the people who are so situated. How blessed are the people whose God is Jehovah!

He who despises his neighbor sins. He who has mercy on the poor is happy.

He who handles a matter wisely will find good. Trust in Jehovah and be happy.

She (wisdom) is a tree of life to those who hold her. Happy are all who keep her.

If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

Do not bring the hire (fee) of a harlot or the wages of a dog into the house of Jehovah your God for any vow offering. Both of these are an abomination to Jehovah your God.

He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, a woman who has lost her virginity, or a prostitute. He may only marry a virgin from his own people.

Do not dishonor your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the country will turn to prostitution and be filled with people who are perverted.

They responded: Should he treat our sister like a prostitute?

One day two women who were prostitutes came to the king.

The children of Israel, who had come back, and all those who were joined to them, after separating themselves from the evil ways of the people of the land to become the servants of Jehovah, the God of Israel, ate together.

He walked in ways of the kings of Israel. He even offered his son to walk through the fire. He copied the disgusting ways of the nations. Jehovah sent the people of the nations out of the land before the children of Israel.

Large quantities of meaningless words and repetition are not acceptable in prayer. The pagans think their gods will hear long and repetitious prayers.

The nations have dug a pit and fallen in. They have been caught in their own trap.

Why do the nations conspire together and rage? Why do the peoples plot in vain?

I will show my greatness among the nations. All the nations will see how I will turn my power against them to punish them.

Then our mouths were filled with laughter and our tongues with joyful songs. Then the nations said: Jehovah has done spectacular things for them.

They lived by the rules of the nations whom Jehovah sent out from before the children of Israel.

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of man's hands.

You are our Father. Even though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not pay attention to us, O Jehovah, you are our Father. Your name is our Defender From Everlasting.

There in front of the whole assembly King David praised Jehovah. He said: Jehovah, God of our father (ancester) Israel. May you be praised forever and ever!

I keep my promise for thousands of generations and forgive evil and sin. But I will not fail to punish children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for the sins of their fathers.

You ruined your country and killed your own people. For that reason, you will not be buried like other kings. None of your evil family will survive.

What do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel: 'The fathers eat sour grapes, but the children's teeth are set on edge?'

Those who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins and the sins of their ancestors.

We must lie down in our shame and let our humiliation cover us. Ever since we were young, we and our fathers have sinned against Jehovah our God. We have not obeyed Jehovah our God.

Ahaz slept with his fathers. He was buried in the town of David. Hezekiah his son became king in his place.

Hezekiah became ill and was about to die. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz said to him: This is what Jehovah says: 'Give final instructions to your household. You will not recover. You will die.'

It was the fourth year of King Hezekiah, the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel. Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and laid siege to it.

They said to him: This is what Hezekiah says: 'Today is a day filled with misery, punishment, and disgrace. We are like a woman who is about to give birth but does not have the strength to do it.

Then Hezekiah said: It is an easy matter to have the shadow go forward ten steps. So have it go back ten steps.

Hezekiah slept in death with his ancestors. His son Manasseh succeeded him as king.

In that day it will be on the bells of the horses, HOLY UNTO JEHOVAH. And the pots in Jehovah's house will be like the bowls before the altar.

The flower-shaped medallion, the holy crown, was fashioned out of pure gold. The statement: HOLY TO JEHOVAH was engraved on it.

Brothers, I could not yet have obtained it. But one thing I do, I forget the things that are behind, and stretch forward to the things that are ahead. I press on toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Jesus told him: Go to your house and to your friends and tell them about the great things God did for you and how he had mercy on you.

Then he said to the disciple, Look, your mother! That hour forward the disciple took her to his home.

to be sober minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God will not be (defamed) dishonored.

I went away full, and Jehovah sent me back empty. Why do you give me the name Naomi, seeing that Jehovah has given witness against me, and the Almighty has brought sorrow to me?

Then he poured water into the basin and washed the disciples' feet. He wiped them with the towel he was wearing.

When he speaks kind words do not believe him. There are seven abominations in his heart.

Those who store up violence and robbery in their dwellings do not know how to do what is right, declared Jehovah.

They do not know Jehovah's thoughts. Neither do they understand his counsel. He has gathered them like the sheaves of cut grain to the threshing floor.

They do not know the way of peace. There is no justice on their highways. They made their paths crooked. Those who walk on them will never know peace.

I thought: These are only the poor and ignorant. They are foolish. They do not know what their God requires, what Jehovah wants them to do.

They are ignorant of God's righteousness. They seek to establish their own righteousness and have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, silver, copper, iron, wood, and of stone.

You know that you were of the nations, carried away and led by mute idols.

Has any nation ever exchanged gods? Their gods are not really gods. Yet my people have exchanged their glory for something that does not help them.

This is because all the gods of the nations are useless idols while Jehovah created the heavens.

Then the cities of Judah and those who live in Jerusalem will cry to the gods to whom they have been sacrificing. But these gods will never rescue them in a time of distress.

Their land is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.

There are those called gods in heaven or on earth. There are many gods and many lords.

Can people make gods for themselves? They are not really gods!

This is the bread that comes down out of heaven that a man may eat of it and not die.

This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. You once presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to sin. Now you present your members as servants to righteousness and sanctification (purification) (holiness).

The younger one said to him, Father I want my share of the property. He divided his property between his two sons.

They said: Jehovah commanded you to distribute the land to the people of Israel by drawing lots. He also commanded you to give the property of our relative Zelophehad to his daughters.

So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

They came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying: Jehovah commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers. Therefore according to the commandment of Jehovah he gave them an inheritance among the brothers of their father.

The second lot came for Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.

When Joshua let the people go the children of Israel went, every man, to his inheritance to possess the land.

The near relative said: I am not able to redeem it for myself, for fear of damaging the heritage I have. You may do it in my place, for I am not able to do it myself.

Then Hanamel my uncle's son came to me in the court of the guard according to the word of Jehovah and said to me: 'Buy my field, please, that is at Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin. You have the right of possession and the redemption is yours. Buy it for yourself.' Then I knew that this was the word of Jehovah.

For that reason your sin will be like a high wall with a bulging crack, ready to fall. All of a sudden it will fall.

Give glory to Jehovah your God before he brings darkness and before your feet stumble on the dusky mountains. You hope for light. He makes it into deep darkness and turns it into gloom.

Surely you set them in slippery places. You threw them down into destruction.

You will be like one who lies down in the middle of the sea; like one who lies on top of a mast.

That is why their own way will become like a slippery path in the dark. They will be chased away, and they will fall down in the dark. I will bring disaster on them. It is time for them to be punished, proclaims Jehovah.

It is definitely because they have misled my people by saying, Peace! When there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall they plaster it over with whitewash.' So tell those who plaster it over with whitewash, that it will fall. A flooding rain will come, and you, O hailstones, will fall; and a violent wind will break out.

Every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. The rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and battered the house and it fell with a great crash.

I charged your judges to hear the cases between your countrymen and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger with him.

Every year he went around to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah in order to judge Israel in all those places.

If one man sins against another, God will judge him. But if a man sins against Jehovah, who will intercede for him? But his sons did not listen to the voice of their father. Jehovah desired to put them to death.

Appoint judges and officers for your tribes in every city Jehovah your God gives you. They are to judge the people fairly.

He appointed judges in the country, in each fortified city of Judah.

When there is a dispute between men and they go to court, and the judges decide their case. They justify the righteous and condemn the wicked.

The next day Moses settled disputes among the people. He was busy from morning till night.

There was a judge in a city that did not fear God and had no respect for man.

Gideon said to God: You have said you will rescue Israel using me.

Gideon and the hundred men, who were with him, came to the outside of the camp. It was the beginning of the middle watch and they had just posted the new watch. They blew the trumpets, and broke the jars that were in their hands.

Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun came up (at Heres Pass).

The Israelites said to Gideon: Be our ruler, you and your descendants after you. You saved us from the Midianites.

Gideon son of Joash died at an old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash, at Ophrah. Ophrah was the town of the clan of Abiezer.

In the spring, at the time of the year when kings usually go to war, David sent out Joab with his officers and the Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged the city of Rabbah. David stayed in Jerusalem.

So she came to Jerusalem with a very large caravan. The camels carried spices and very much gold and precious stones. When she approached Solomon, she talked about everything she had on her mind (heart).

David told all his men who were with him in Jerusalem: We must run away quickly, or none of us will escape from Absalom. Leave right away or he will catch up to us and bring ruin upon us when he massacres the city.

He was king of Israel for forty years. He ruled seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

The king and his men went to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived in that region. The Jebusites told David: You will never get in here. Even the blind and the lame could turn you away. In other words he could not enter there.

When Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king. The inhabitants of Gibeon made peace with Israel and were living near them.

The man did not want to spend another night there. He and his concubine started on their way, with their servant and two donkeys with packsaddles.

David left ten of his concubines in Jerusalem to take care of his palace. When he returned, he had them taken to another house. He placed soldiers there to guard them. He gave them what they needed. He never slept with any of them again. They had to live there for the rest of their lives as if they were widows.

King Solomon summoned all the leaders of the tribes and clans of Israel to come to him in Jerusalem. They were to take Jehovah's Ark of the Covenant from Zion, David's City, to the Temple.

All willing, men and women alike, brought all kinds of gold jewelry: pins, brooches, earrings, signet rings, and pendants. They offered these gifts of gold to Jehovah.

So we brought as an offering to Jehovah what each man found, articles of gold, armlets and ankle bracelets, signet rings, earrings and necklaces, to make atonement for ourselves before Jehovah.

The servant took out gold and silver jewelry and clothes and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave expensive presents to her brother and mother.

But every woman shall ask of her neighbor and the woman who lives in her house, articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing. You will put them on your sons and daughters. Thus you will plunder the Egyptians.

The success of the wicked is brief and the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.

Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold joy from my heart. My heart took pleasure in all my work and this was my reward.

For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.

Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards. No one sings or shouts in the vineyards! No one treads out wine at the presses, for I have put an end to the shouting.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

I charged your judges to hear the cases between your countrymen and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger with him.

Every year he went around to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah in order to judge Israel in all those places.

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these, saying: Behold, Jehovah came with many thousands of his holy ones. They execute judgment upon all. They convict all the ungodly of all their wicked behavior, deeds that they have committed in an irreverent way, and of all the hard things those detestable sinners have spoken against him.

I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God. The books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged according to the things written in the books, according to their works.

When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All nations will be gathered before him. He will then separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

Jesus answered: My kingdom is not of this world! If my kingdom were of this world my servants would fight that I should not be delivered to the Jews. My kingdom is not from this domain.

Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Corruption may not inherit incorruption.

Neither shall they say it is here or over there! The kingdom of God is here with you (in your midst) (among you).

I said to my heart, I have become great and have acquired more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Yes, my heart has seen an abundance of wisdom and knowledge.

I said to my heart, I have become great and have acquired more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Yes, my heart has seen an abundance of wisdom and knowledge.

Early the next morning the people went out to the wild country near Tekoa. Before they began Jehoshaphat addressed them with these words: 'People of Judah and Jerusalem! Put your trust in Jehovah your God. You will stand your ground. Believe what his prophets tell you, and you will succeed.

When Jezebel massacred the prophets of Jehovah, Obadiah took a hundred of them, and hid them secretly in a hole in the rock, fifty at a time, and gave them bread and water.

They resented him. But Jesus responded to them: A prophet is without honor in his own country, and in his own house.

They mocked God's messengers. They despised his words, and made fun of his prophets until Jehovah became angry with his people. He could no longer heal them.

He said: Listen to my words: 'When there are prophets of Jehovah among you, I make myself known to them in visions or speak to them in dreams.

All those who knew him before saw how he prophesied with the prophets. They asked one another: What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul one of the prophets?

Joshua spoke to the priests: Take up the Ark of the Covenant, and pass over before the people. So they took the Ark of the Covenant and went before the people.

Moses sent young men to burn sacrifices to Jehovah. They sacrificed some cattle as peace offerings.

The priests entered Jehovah's temple to make it clean. They carried into the courtyard every unclean thing that they found in Jehovah's Temple. Then the Levites took the unclean items outside the city to the Kidron Brook.

Jethro was the priest of Midian and the father-in-law of Moses. He heard what Jehovah God had done for Moses and his people, after rescuing them from Egypt.

The priests and Levites in every region of Israel aligned with Rehoboam.

They store up for them a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life that is life indeed.

and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will be like midday.

David replied to Saul: I am a shepherd for my father's sheep. When a lion or a bear comes and carries off a sheep from the flock,

Samson went to Timnah with his father and mother. When they traveled through the vineyards he heard a young lion roaring.

He went on his way. A lion met him on the road and jumped him and killed him. His dead body was stretched in the road with the donkey by its side. The lion was by the body.

He arose very early in the morning, and went in haste to the den of lions.

They will never be hungry or thirsty. The sun and the burning hot wind will not strike them. The one who has compassion on them will lead them and guide them to springs.

You will put to shame all that forsake you, O Jehovah, the hope of Israel. Those who turn away on earth will be written down, for they have forsaken Jehovah, the fountain of living water.

A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and do not have love, I have become like loud sounding brass, or a clashing cymbal.

This is the bread that comes down out of heaven that a man may eat of it and not die.

This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

But with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth (power of his words), and with the spirit (breath) of his lips he will destroy the wicked.

The meek, the poor, and the needy will celebrate and shout because of Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel.

Humble (meek) people will eat until they are full. Those who look to Jehovah will praise him. May your heart live forever.

Jehovah gives relief to those who are oppressed. He brings wicked people down to the ground.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness (mildness), self-control; against such there is no law.

to speak evil of no man, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all meekness toward all men.

Seek Jehovah all you meek ones of the earth, you who have obeyed his Law! Seek righteousness! Seek meekness that you may be hidden in the Day of Jehovah's anger. (Hebrew: ulay-ulay, may-be; Septuagint: you may be hid.) (Hebrew: sathar: concealed, hidden, protected) (Zephaniah 1:2) (Amos 5:15)

The king told Ziba: In that case everything that belonged to Mephibosheth now belongs to you. I sincerely thank you, said Ziba, I hope to remain in your good graces, Your Majesty.

Saul's son Jonathan had a son who was crippled. When the boy was five years old, the news about the death of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled to Gittaim. She was in a hurry when she left. He fell from her arms and became disabled. His name was Mephibosheth.

Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan and grandson of Saul arrived. He bowed down before David in respect. David said: Mephibosheth. He answered: I am here to serve.

I saw a storm coming from the north. There was an immense cloud with flashing lightning surrounded by a bright light. The center of the lightning looked like glowing metal.

The time came for Jehovah to take Elijah up into the physical heavens (the sky) in a whirlwind. Elijah and Elisha set out from Gilgal,

Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike.

With whom are you effeminate (self-indulgent)? With whom do you open wide your mouth and offer your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, offspring of falsehood and deceit?

They said to you: In the last time there will be mockers (scoffers), walking after their own ungodly lusts.

David told Joab and everyone with him: Show your sorrow by tearing your clothes and wearing sackcloth! Walk in front of Abner's body and cry! David walked behind the coffin on which Abner's body was being carried.

It took forty days, which is the normal time for embalming. The Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.

The entire congregation learned that Aaron had died. They all mourned for him for thirty days.

So the sons of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses came to an end.

They grieved and mourned and fasted until evening for Saul and Jonathan and for Israel, the people of Jehovah, because so many had been killed in battle.

The men did their work faithfully under the supervision of Jahath and Obadiah; Levites descended from Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam descendants of Kohath. The Levites, who were skilled musicians,

So give us the order and we will look for a man who knows how to play the harp. Then when the distressing spirit comes on you, the man can play his harp, and you will be all right again.

God did this so man could seek him and might find him. He is not far from each one of us.

I am a God who is near, declares Jehovah. I am not a God far off!

The one who pronounces me innocent is near. Who will bring a case against me? Let us confront each other! Who accuses me? Let him draw near to me!

I will leave a faithful few, a humble and lowly people with you. They will seek refuge in the name of Jehovah.

Remember your Creator (Hebrew: Bara', plural, Creators denotes majesty) (Ge 1:26) in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near. You will say: I have no pleasure in them.

Aged men should be temperate, serious, sound in mind, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance. Aged women likewise should be reverent in behavior and teachers of that which is good. They should not be slanderers nor enslaved to too much wine.

Even in your old age with gray hair I am he, I am he who will support you. I have made you and I will bear your burden (take care of you). I will sustain (support) (strengthen) you and I will rescue you (keep you safe).

You did not bring me sheep for your burnt offerings or honor me with your sacrifices. I did not burden you by requiring grain offerings or trouble you by requiring incense offerings.

A woman came to him having an alabaster vase containing very precious ointment. She poured it upon his head while he was eating. The disciples saw it and were indignant. To what purpose is this waste?

I ask you: 'will you rob and defraud God? Of course not, yet you are robbing and defrauding me!' 'How have we robbed and defrauded?' You ask. 'In the matter of tithes and offerings.'

Eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste. It is Jehovah's Passover.'

They slaughtered the Passover lambs. The priests sprinkled the blood with their hands while the Levites skinned the lambs.

They moved from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover. The Israelites boldly left in full view of all the Egyptians.

They slaughtered the Passover lambs on the fourteenth of the second month. The priests and Levites were ashamed of themselves. They consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings to the house of Jehovah.

the priests and the Levites made themselves clean together. They were all clean when they put the Passover lamb to death for all those who had come back, and for their brothers the priests and for themselves.

Now it was the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover. His disciples said to him: Where do you want to go to prepare to eat the Passover?

They do not know the way of peace. There is no justice on their highways. They made their paths crooked. Those who walk on them will never know peace.

Enter through the narrow gate, since the gate to destruction is wide and the road that leads to destruction is wide and many enter through it.

Good understanding gives favor. The way of transgressors is hard.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah. He loves the one who follows after righteousness.

In time past you were no people, but now you are the people of God. You had not then received, but now have received mercy (compassion) (divine kindness).

He will send his angels with a great trumpet sound. They will gather together the anointed from the four winds, from one end of the sky (horizon) to the other.

For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

He will set you high above all nations that he has made, for praise, fame, and honor. You will be a consecrated people to Jehovah your God, as he has spoken.

Jehovah made a solemn promise. He will not abandon you. You are his people for his great name's sake.

Then I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying: Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men. He will dwell with them and they will be his people! God will be with them, and be their God.

This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,' said Jehovah: 'I will put my teachings (laws) in their mind, I will write them upon their hearts (deep thought) (understanding). I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Jeremiah 31:32)

For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

He led his own people out like sheep and guided them like a flock through the wilderness.

He will go before God in the spirit and power of Elijah. He will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and wrongdoers to the way of righteousness. This will make ready a people whose hearts have been directed to Jehovah (YHWH). (Malachi 3:1)

Simeon declared how God first visited the nations to take out of them a people for his name.

You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Out of all the people on the face of the earth Jehovah has chosen you to be a people for His own possession.

If you will obey me and are faithful to the terms of my covenant, then out of all the nations you will be my own special possession, for all the earth is mine.

([Psalm of David]) O Jehovah my God, in you I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me,

Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! When the morning comes they do it because they are able to (it is in the power of their hands).

He plans wickedness upon his bed. He walks on a path that is not good. He does not despise evil.

If it is the king's pleasure, let a statement ordering their destruction be put in writing. I will give to those responsible for the king's business, ten thousand talents of silver for the king's storehouse.

As for a rogue, his weapons are evil. He devises wicked schemes to destroy the afflicted with slander, even though the needy one speaks what is right.

The wicked plots against the righteous and grinds at him with his teeth.

I will leave a faithful few, a humble and lowly people with you. They will seek refuge in the name of Jehovah.

Then the relative will cry out: I am not a healer! I do not have any food or a coat in my home. Do not make me a leader of the people.

If you go into battle with them God will use the enemy to defeat you. It does not matter how courageous you are because God has the power to help you or to defeat you.

He stills the sea with his power. He struck down Rahab with his understanding.

God has spoken once. I have heard it said twice: Power belongs to God.

He established the mountains with his power. He is girded (fortified) (surrounded) with mighty strength.

Jehovah on high is mightier than the noise of many waters. Yes he is mightier than the mighty waves of the sea.

Jehovah is slow to anger, and great in power! He will by no means reprieve the guilty (leave them unpunished). Jehovah has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm. The clouds are the dust of his feet.

Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my good news, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the secret, which was kept secret since the world began.

I will bring them to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar. My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

He said: When you pray say, 'Father holy (sacred) (sanctified) (blessed) (consecrated) is your name. Let your kingdom come.

Another angel, with a golden incense vessel, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense so he could offer it with the prayers of all the holy ones upon the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the holy ones, ascended up, out of the angel's hand, before God.

When he took the book the four living creatures and twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Every one of them had harps, and golden bowls full of incense. These are the prayers of the holy ones.

Likewise the Spirit also helps our weaknesses. We do not know what we should pray for, as we should. The Spirit [of God] makes intercession with groaning that cannot be spoken. So he who searches the hearts knows what is the inclination (purpose) (mind-set) of the Spirit [of God], because the Spirit makes intercession for the holy ones according to the will of God.

Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on (proclaim) the name of Jehovah.

I have made every effort to prepare materials for the Temple: gold, silver, bronze, iron, timber, precious stones and gems, stones for mosaics, and quantities of marble.

The merchandise of gold and silver and precious stones, and of pearls, fine linen, purple and silk, scarlet, and everything in scented wood, all manner of ivory and all manner of most precious wood, of brass and iron and marble,

So she came to Jerusalem with a very large caravan. The camels carried spices and very much gold and precious stones. When she approached Solomon, she talked about everything she had on her mind (heart).

David took the gold crown from the head of Rabbah's king. It was placed on David's head. The crown was found to weigh seventy-five pounds, and in it was a precious stone. David also took a lot of goods from the city.

She had the glory of God. Her light was like a very precious stone, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

Now if any man builds upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble;

He will honor the god of military fortresses, a god whom his fathers did not know. He will honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and expensive gifts.

A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes its owner. He prospers in everything he does.

Hoshea's treachery became clear to the king of Assyria. He had sent representatives to the king of Egypt. He did not send his offering to the king of Assyria like he did in previous years. So the king of Assyria had him put in chains and locked in prison.

Suddenly there was a massive earthquake. It was so great the foundations of the prison-house were shaken. All the doors were opened and everyone's bands came off.

You drink wine in bowls, and anoint yourselves with the finest oils. But you are not grieved because of the affliction of Joseph.

In a short time the younger son sold his share of the property. He left home with the money and traveled to a far away country where he wasted his money in reckless living.

This son of yours wasted all your property on prostitutes. When he comes home you kill the prize calf for him!

Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander. I handed them over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme.

both your sins and the sins of your fathers, says Jehovah. This is because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills. I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds.

The dragon stood on the shore by the sea. I saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns. His horns had ten crowns on them. Blasphemous names were on his heads.

They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains, but they did not repent.

The Israelite woman's son began cursing Jehovah's name and treating it with contempt. So they brought him to Moses.

When they opposed Paul and treated him abusively he shook out his garment and said to them: Your blood is upon your own heads. I am clean. From now on I will go to the people of the nations.

Do they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called?

When the Jews saw the crowds they were filled with envy. They spoke against those things Paul spoke. They contradicted and blasphemed him.

Sennacherib's officers said more against Jehovah God and his servant Hezekiah.

He will speak words against the Most High (Supreme God) and wear down (afflict) (cause great distress) the holy ones of the Most High. He will think to change the times and law and will have control until a time and times and half a time. (Three and one-half years)

Jehovah of Hosts proclaims: The day is coming when all arrogant and evil people will burn like stubble. On that day they will burn up and there will be nothing left of them, either root or bough.

Even though Jehovah is high above, he sees humble people close up, and he recognizes arrogant people from a distance.

We are filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

he is proud, knows nothing, has a morbid interest in questions and disputes about words, which leads to envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,

The arrogant have dug pits for me. They are not in agreement with your law.

Let the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me with a lie. I shall meditate on your precepts.

We call arrogant people happy. Evil people test God's patience with their wicked deeds. They not only get away with it, they also prosper.

Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?

He will not allow your foot to slip. He who keeps you will not slumber.

Surely I am composed and quiet. I am like a weaned child who rests against his mother. Inside of me I am like a weaned child.

If God decided to do nothing at all, no one could criticize him. If he hid his face (refused to assist), we would be helpless.

It is good to go on hoping and quietly waiting for the salvation of Jehovah.

These two women brought a lot of grief to his parents, Isaac and Rebekah.

Before he finished praying, Rebekah came with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel, son of Milcah, who was the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor.

Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram, and sister of Laban the Aramean.

Abraham and his wife Sarah are buried there. Isaac and his wife Rebekah are buried there. I also buried Leah there.

His wife Rebekah was very beautiful. He was afraid that someone might kill him to get her. So he told everyone that Rebekah was his sister.

Rebekah said to Isaac: I cannot stand Hittite women! I would rather die than see Jacob marry one of them.

Rebekah said to her son Jacob: I have just heard your father speak to your brother Esau.

He that was sown upon the good ground hears the word, and understands it. He bears fruit, producing sometimes a hundredfold, sometimes sixty, and sometimes thirty.

For this purpose we also thank God without ceasing, that, when you received from us the word of the message, even the word of God, you accepted it, not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.

When he speaks kind words do not believe him. There are seven abominations in his heart.

Early the next morning the people went out to the wild country near Tekoa. Before they began Jehoshaphat addressed them with these words: 'People of Judah and Jerusalem! Put your trust in Jehovah your God. You will stand your ground. Believe what his prophets tell you, and you will succeed.

All those who knew him before saw how he prophesied with the prophets. They asked one another: What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul one of the prophets?

Nevertheless some men of Asher, Manasseh and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

Many Samaritans of that city put faith (believed) in him because of what the woman said: He told me everything I have ever done.

All who lived at Lydda on the Plain of Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.

And when the people of the nations heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God. As many as were receptive to eternal life believed.

Many of the believers confessed openly about the evil things they had done.

God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark. He sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

When there is war in your land and you defend yourselves against an enemy attack, sound the signal for battle on these trumpets. I, Jehovah your God, will help you and save you from your enemies.

He remembered his loving kindness and faithfulness to Israel's descendants. All the ends of the earth have seen how our God saves them.

Zion replied: Jehovah has forsaken me and Jehovah has forgotten me! Can a woman forget her nursing child? Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb? Although mothers forget, I will not forget you. I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands. Your walls are constantly before me.

When God destroyed the cities of the valley where Lot was living, he kept Abraham in mind and allowed Lot to escape to safety.

When he killed some of them, the rest searched for him. They turned from their sins and eagerly looked for God.

If they change their attitude toward you in the land of their enemies where they are captives, if they pray to you toward the land that you gave their ancestors, and the city you have chosen, and the temple I have built for your name,

Jehovah will strike Egypt, striking but healing; so they will turn to Jehovah, and he will respond to them and will heal them.

Return, O Israel, to Jehovah your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

Like your fathers before you, you have turned away from my laws and have not obeyed them. Return to me and I will return to you, said Jehovah of Hosts. But you ask, 'how will we return to you?'

Return to Jehovah and say to him: 'Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously, that we may present the fruit (young bulls) of our lips.' (Hebrews 13:15)

The lame will leap and dance, and those who cannot speak will shout for joy. Streams of water will flow through the desert plain.

He will revive us after two days. He will raise us up on the third day that we will live before him.

I know your troubles. I know that you are poor, but you are rich! I know the evil things said against you by those who claim to be Jews but are not. Their synagogue belongs to Satan!

He enriches you in every way, in all speaking, and in all knowledge.

He considered the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. He looked intently (respectfully) for the payment of the reward.

There is one who claims to be rich, yet has nothing. There is one who claims to be poor, yet has great riches.

With whom are you effeminate (self-indulgent)? With whom do you open wide your mouth and offer your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, offspring of falsehood and deceit?

They said to you: In the last time there will be mockers (scoffers), walking after their own ungodly lusts.

Somewhere God said this about the seventh day: God rested on the seventh day from all his works.

Moses said: Jehovah has commanded that tomorrow is a holy day of rest, dedicated to God. Bake today what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Whatever is left should be put aside and kept for tomorrow.

God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. This is because he rested from all the work of creation he had done.

For the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath.

Jesus' disciples were hungry. It was Sabbath day and yet Jesus and his disciples went through the grain fields plucking ears and eating them.

I have given you, your sons, and your daughters all the holy contributions which the Israelites offer to Jehovah. These contributions will be yours from generation to generation. It is an everlasting promise of salt in Jehovah's presence for you and your descendants.

Season every grain offering with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering. All of your offerings must have salt.

He ordered them: Put some salt in a new bowl and bring it to me. They brought it to him,

When they need young bulls and sheep and lambs, for burned offerings to the God of heaven and grain, salt, wine, and oil, whatever the priests in Jerusalem say is necessary, is to be given to them day by day regularly:

You will be secure because there is hope. You will look about you and take your rest in safety.

This man will dwell on the heights. His refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and he will have water.

Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great (oak) tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.

The body of Joseph, which the people of Israel had brought from Egypt, was buried at Shechem, in the piece of land that Jacob had bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for a hundred pieces of silver. Joseph's descendants inherited this land.

Jacob traveled safely from Paddan-aram to the city of Shechem in Canaan. He camped within sight of the city.

His brothers went to Shechem to take care of their father's flock.

Now to him that is able to guard you from stumbling, and to set you before the presence of his glory without blemish with exceeding joy.

([Psalm of David]) Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters.

He who is void of wisdom despises his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his peace.

Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him because they saw that he was in such great pain.

If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom.

I was silent and refrained from good. My sorrow grew worse.

Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise! He who shuts his mouth is esteemed a man of understanding.

Let him sit by himself and keep silent because he has laid it on him.

The screen hung on four posts set in four copper bases. The hooks and bands on the posts were made of silver. The tops of the posts were covered with silver.

Then they made forty silver sockets placed at the bottom of the twenty frames. There were two sockets at the bottom of each frame for the two pegs.

Those who could give silver or copper brought it as their contribution to Jehovah. Those who had acacia wood that could be used in the construction brought it.

This is the type of contribution you will accept from them: gold, silver, and bronze,

The north side should be the same one hundred fifty feet long, with curtains on twenty posts set in twenty copper bases. The hooks and bands on the posts should be made of silver.

Truly I tell you he who does not receive the kingdom of God like little child, shall in no wise enter it.

Your obedience has come to our attention abroad. I am glad therefore on your behalf. Yet I would have you wise to that which is good and simple concerning evil.

Jehovah protects defenseless people (simple ones). When I was weak, he saved me.

([Psalm of David]) O Jehovah, my heart is not proud, my eyes are not haughty. I do not involve myself in great matters. I do not get involved in things too difficult for me.

When I begin to lose hope, you already know what I am experiencing. My enemies have hidden a trap for me on the path where I walk.

Arrogant people have laid a trap for me. They have spread out a net with ropes. They have set traps for me along the road.

Hear this, O you priests and pay attention, O house of Israel. Give ear (listen)! O house of the king the judgment is about you. You have been a snare at Mizpah and a net spread upon Tabor.

The arrogant have dug pits for me. They are not in agreement with your law.

Wicked men are found among my people. They lie in ambush like bird catchers. They set traps and catch men.

They hid their net in a pit for no reason. They dug the pit to trap me for no reason.

The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not gone astray from your precepts.

Keep me away from the trap they set for me and from the traps set by troublemakers.

Let an outcry be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring raiders upon them. For they have dug a pit to capture me and hidden snares for my feet.

Like snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor does not become a fool.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household. All her household is clothed with scarlet.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a brave man from Kabzeel who did some amazing things. He killed two of Moab's best fighters. On a snowy day he went down into a pit and killed a lion.

Does the snow of Lebanon forsake the rock of the open country? Or is the cold flowing water from a foreign land ever snatched away?

He is the one who sends snow like wool and scatters frost like ashes.

when darkened by thawing ice and swollen with melting snow,

Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail?

When you sit to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before you. Put a knife to your throat, if you are a man with a strong desire (lust) (passion).

Have you found honey? Eat only what is needed or you will be too full and vomit.

meekness (mildness), self-control; against such there is no law.

King Belshazzar held a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine with them.

They gathered twelve baskets of leftovers after everyone had eaten.

At that time Solomon and all Israel celebrated the festival. A large crowd had come from the territory between the border of Hamath and the River of Egypt to be near Jehovah our God for seven days.

Levi made him a great feast in his house. There was a large group of tax collectors and of others that were sitting at the meal with them.

It was Herod's birthday. He invited his lords, the military commanders, and the prominent men of Galilee to supper.

So the king of Israel provided a great feast for them. After they ate and drank he sent them back to the king of Syria. From then on the Syrians stopped raiding the land of Israel.

They feasted and drank with David for three days. Their relatives had made preparations for their arrival.

At the end of that time, the king gave a feast for all the people who were present in Shushan, the king's town, small as well as great, for seven days, in the outer square of the garden of the king's house.

Draw some out, he said, and take it to the master of the feast. So they drew some out.

He was despised and rejected by men. He was a man of sorrows familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised. We did not consider him to be worth much.

Now that I have spoken these things to you, sorrow fills your heart.

O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will build you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires.

They store up for them a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life that is life indeed.

And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? We are the temple of the living God. God said: I will dwell in them, and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Leviticus 26:12) (Zechariah 8:8)

You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets. Christ Jesus is the chief corner stone. In him each building fits together and grows into a holy Temple for Jehovah. (Zechariah 6:12) In Christ you are assembled together as a place for God's Spirit to dwell.

The kingdom of God is here with you (in your midst) (among you).

and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will be like midday.

Be filled with the fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. (John 15:5) (Galatians 5:22, 23)

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness (mildness), self-control; against such there is no law.

They are planted in Jehovah's house. They blossom in our God's courtyards. Even when they are old, they still bear fruit. They are always healthy and fresh.

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. Carefully obey these laws.

He said: If you will listen carefully to Jehovah your God and do what he considers right, if you pay attention to his commands and obey all his laws, I will never make you suffer any of the diseases I made the Egyptians suffer. I am Jehovah, who heals you.

I have taught you laws and rules as Jehovah my God commanded me. You must obey them when you enter the land and take possession of it.

These are the laws, rules, and instructions Jehovah gave to the Israelites through Moses on Mount Sinai.

If you obey me and keep my laws and commands, as your father David did, I will give you a long life.

Your statutes are my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

([Psalm of David]) O Jehovah my God, in you I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me,

I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I also saw the people who were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image. They had not received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands. They lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

The high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.

The prophet Zedekiah went to Micaiah and slapped his face. He asked: Since when did Jehovah's spirit leave me and speak to you?

When he said this one of the officers standing nearby struck Jesus with his hand, saying: You answer the high priest!

The sun made a shadow that went down the stairway of the upper palace of Ahaz. 'I am going to make the shadow go back ten steps.' So the sun on the stairway went back up the ten steps it had gone down.

Joshua spoke to Jehovah the day when Jehovah delivered the Amorites to the children of Israel. He said in sight of Israel: Sun, stand still upon Gibeon; and Moon, stand still in the valley of Ajalon.

Some worship and bow down to other gods, the sun, the moon, or the whole army of heaven. I have forbidden this.

At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven. It was brighter than the sun and shinned all around me. It also shinned around those who journeyed with me.

The sun will not strike you by day. The moon will not strike you by night.

Yet, their measuring line (rule) has gone out into the entire world, their message to the ends of the earth. He has set up a tent in the heavens for the sun.

The sun rises and the sun goes down, and it quickly goes back to the place where it began.

I punished them in every synagogue and tried to force them to recant their beliefs. I was exceedingly mad against them. I persecuted them even in strange cities.

The parents said these things because they feared the Jews. The Jews had agreed that if any man should confess him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

Some of the Philistines brought gifts and silver as taxes. The Arabs also brought him flocks: seven thousand and seven hundred rams and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.

They arrived at Capernaum. The collectors of the two-drachma tax asked Peter: Does your master make payment of the Temple tax?

King Ahasuerus put a tax on the land and on the islands of the sea.

Tell us what you think? Is it lawful to pay the poll tax to Caesar, or not?

When you sit to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before you. Put a knife to your throat, if you are a man with a strong desire (lust) (passion).

Have you found honey? Eat only what is needed or you will be too full and vomit.

meekness (mildness), self-control; against such there is no law.

As a thorn goes into the hand of a drunkard, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools.

The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under foot.

Awake, you drunkards, and weep! Wail you drinkers of wine. The sweet wine is removed from your mouth.

Entangled like thorns and drunken from drink, they are consumed like dry stubble.

But as for me, by your abundant loving kindness I will enter your house. At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence of you.

([Psalm of Asaph]) O God, the nations have invaded the land that belongs to you. They have dishonored (defiled) your holy temple. They have left Jerusalem in ruins.

I will bow toward your holy temple. I will praise your name because of your loving kindness and truth. You have made your name and your covenant greater than everything.

They will speak of the glory of your kingdom and talk of your power.

YOU ARE MY WITNESSES, DECLARES JEHOVAH! I have chosen you as my servant so that you can know and believe in me and understand that I am the one who did this. No god was formed before me, and there will be none after me.

On that day your mouth will be opened to him who escaped. You will speak and be mute no longer. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am Jehovah.

Let me publish with a voice of thanksgiving and recount all your wonders (miracles).

Let my tongue sing of your word. For all your commandments are righteousness.

They will not be impatient any longer, but they will act with understanding and will pay attention to the needs of the people.

Jehovah said: I have seen how my people are suffering as slaves in Egypt. I have heard them beg for my help because of the way they are being mistreated. I feel sorry for them.

Why do you brag about your valleys, your fertile valleys, you unfaithful people? You trust your treasures. You think: Who would attack me?

You felt sure of yourself in your evil. You thought that no one could see you. Your wisdom and knowledge led you astray. Then you said to yourself: 'I am God! There is no one else like me.'

Those who are at ease in Zion and are secure in the mountain of Samaria will have trouble. You are the notable men of the foremost nations to whom the house of Israel comes!

He dug the soil all around and removed its stones. He planted it with the choicest vine. And he built a tower in the middle of it and also hewed out a wine vat in it. Then he expected it to produce good grapes, but it only produced worthless ones.

The integrity of the upright will guide them. The perverseness of transgressors will destroy them.

these four kings made war with King Bera of Sodom, King Birsha of Gomorrah, King Shinab of Admah, King Shemeber of Zeboiim, and the king of Zoar.

You train me for battle, so that I can use the strongest bow.

Even though an army sets up camp against me, my heart will not be afraid. Even though a war breaks out against me, I will trust in Jehovah.

Another horse that was red went out: and power was given to him who sat on it to take peace from the earth. He was given a great sword so that men could kill one another.

There is also a time to love and a time to hate, a time of war and a time of peace.

King Ahab told his wife Jezebel everything Elijah had done. He told how he put all the prophets of Baal to death.

It was as if he copied the evil ways of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. He took as his wife Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal, king of Zidon, and became a servant and worshipper of Baal.

Jezebel will not be buried. Dogs in the territory of Jezreel will eat her body.' After saying this, the young prophet opened the door and fled.

When Jezebel massacred the prophets of Jehovah, Obadiah took a hundred of them, and hid them secretly in a hole in the rock, fifty at a time, and gave them bread and water.

Jehu went to Jezreel. Jezebel had news of what happened. Painting her eyes and dressing her hair with ornaments, she put her head out of the window.

Concerning Jezebel, Jehovah says: Dogs will eat her body in the city of Jezreel.

Jezebel his wife came to him and asked: Why is your spirit so bitter that you have no desire for food?

So they came back and told him about it. He said: This is what Jehovah said by his servant Elijah the Tishbite: 'In the heritage of Jezreel the flesh of Jezebel will become food for dogs.

They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: Great and marvelous are your works, Jehovah God, the Almighty; just and true are your ways, you King of the ages (Eternal King) (King of the nations) (King of the holy ones). (Deuteronomy 31:30; 32:4) (Exodus 6:3)

He has made his miracles unforgettable. Jehovah is gracious and compassionate.

He made everything appropriate (beautiful) (good) in its time. God placed eternity in the heart of man. For man is unable to see the works of God from the first to the last.

Blessed are those whose way is blameless. They walk in the law of Jehovah.

Your way is perfect Jehovah. Your word is correct. You are a shield for those who run to you for help.

He is the one who sends his promise throughout the earth. His word travels with great speed.

Listen, Israel! JEHOVAH OUR GOD IS ONE GOD! You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with your entire mind and with all your strength. These words that I command you this day must be in your heart. read more.
Carefully teach them to your sons. Talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way. Speak about them when you lie down, and when you rise up. Bind them for a sign upon your hand. They shall be as frontlets between your eyes. Write them upon the posts of your house, and on your gates. It shall be like the time when Jehovah your God brought you into the land he promised to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. He would give you large and beautiful cities that you did not build. The houses will be full of good things that you did not put in them. There will be wells that you did not dig. There will be vineyards and olive orchards that you did not plant. Jehovah will bring you into this land and you will have all you want to eat. Beware that you do not forget Jehovah, for he brought you out of Egypt your house of bondage.

The law of Jehovah is perfect. It gives new life. The testimony of Jehovah is dependable. It makes the simple wise. The statutes of Jehovah are correct. They make the heart rejoice. The commandments of Jehovah are radiant. They make the eyes shine. The reverence of Jehovah is pure. It endures forever. The decisions of Jehovah are true. They are completely fair. read more.
They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even the drippings from a honeycomb. They warn your servant. There is a great reward in following them.

That very hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds. Then he and all his family were baptized.

The father knew that it was the same hour in which Jesus said: Your son lives. He and his entire household believed.

He found his brother Simon first. He said to him: We have found the Messiah (Christ).

Return to your house and declare the great things God has done for you. He went throughout the whole city telling the great things Jesus had done for him.

The morning after each feast, Job would get up early to offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them. He always did this because he thought that one of them might have sinned by insulting God unintentionally.

Then many people will come and say: Let us go to the mountain of Jehovah, to the House of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways so that we may live by them. The law will go out from Zion. The word of Jehovah will go out from Jerusalem.

I will bring them to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar. My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

All of the flocks from Kedar will gather and come to you. The rams of Nebaioth will serve you. They will be sacrificed as acceptable offerings on my altar. So I will honor my beautiful Temple.

Guard your step when you go to the house of God. It is better to go there and listen than to bring the sacrifices fools bring. Fools are not aware that they do evil.

He told those who sold doves: Take these things away. Do not make my Father's house a house of merchandise.

Bless Jehovah all you servants of Jehovah. You who serve by night in the house of Jehovah!

He said: It is written my house shall be a house of prayer. You have made it a den of robbers.

He puts on righteousness like a coat of armor and a helmet of salvation on his head. He wears clothes of vengeance. He wraps himself with zeal as a coat.
