I went to Tel Abib, to the exiles that lived by the Chebar River. I sat there among them for seven days. I was stunned among them.

God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. This is because he rested from all the work of creation he had done.

Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.

Having found the disciples, we stayed there seven days. Guided by the Spirit the disciples urged Paul not to go to Jerusalem.

We sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread. Five days later we met them at Troas, where we stayed seven days.

For seven days the one of his sons who is priest in his stead shall put them on when he enters the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.

Seven years are coming when there will be plenty of food in Egypt.

The seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in every other country, but there was food throughout Egypt.

Since the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven saying: Chop down the tree, and destroy it. Leave the stump and the roots in the earth. With a band of iron and brass leave it in the tender grass of the field and let it be wet with the dew of heaven. Let its portion be with the beasts of the field till seven times pass over it.


Moses was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread or drink water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments (Ten Words).

Moses entered the midst of the cloud as he went up to the mountain. He was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.


So I fell down prostrate before Jehovah the forty days and forty nights. I did this because Jehovah said he would destroy you.


This whole land will be ruined and become a wasteland. These nations will serve the king of Babylon for seventy years.'


Each morning and evening for forty days the Philistine came forward and made his challenge.


Jehovah replied to Moses: Assemble seventy respected men who are recognized as elders of the people. Bring them to me at the tent of my presence, and tell them to stand there beside you.




Forty days later they returned from exploring the land.


It took forty days, which is the normal time for embalming. The Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.


So he got up and took food and drink. He was strengthened to go for forty days and forty nights, to Horeb, the mountain of God.


The flood came upon the earth for forty days. As the waters increased, they lifted the ark high above the earth.


Seventy weeks (seventy sets of seven time periods) are decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish transgression and to make an end of sin, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.


After forty days Noah opened the window he constructed in the ark.


After you have finished this lie down again. This time lie on your right side, and bear the sin of the house of Judah. I have assigned you forty days, a day for each year.




Jonah began to enter into the city, a day's journey walking, and he shouted: Nineveh will be overthrown in Forty days.
