Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break through and steal:

saying, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage is like to be prejudicial and with much damage, not only of the lading and of the ship, but also of our lives.

And not many days after the younger son gathered all together and went abroad into a distant country, and there squandered away his substance by living luxuriously.

And the day after He went to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with Him, and a great multitude besides: and as He came near to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carrying out to be buried, his mother's only son, and she was a widow: and many of the people of the city were with her. And when the Lord saw her, He was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Do not weep.

But those that are married, not I command, but the Lord, that the wife be not separated from her husband; (but if she separate, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband;) and that the husband put not away his wife. But to the rest say I, not the Lord, If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she like to dwell with him, let him not put her away.read more.
And if any wife hath an unbelieving husband, and he like to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the husband: else were your children unclean; but they are holy. But if the unbeliever depart, let them depart; a brother or a sister is not bound in such cases.

and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trampled down by the Gentiles, till the times of the Gentiles too shall be fulfilled.

through evil report and good report;

And He said also to his disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and he was accused to him of wasting his goods. And he called him, and said unto him, What is this I hear of thee? give up the accounts of thy stewardship, for thou canst be no longer steward. And the steward said in himself, What shall I do? now my master takes away the stewardship from me; I am not able to work, and I am ashamed to beg.

And as much time was spent, and sailing was now dangerous, (for the fast was now past,) Paul exhorted them,

with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction, by the presence of the Lord and by his glorious power: in that day, when He shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe; because our testimony among you was believed.

For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give as a ransom for his soul?

For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be destroyed?

But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night shall thy soul be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? So is he that heapeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.

least there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one repast gave away his birthright. For ye know that, when he would afterwards have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no room for repentance, though he sought it earnestly even with tears.

And whoever heareth these words of mine, and performeth them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: and the rain fell upon it, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell, and the fall thereof was great.

But he that heareth and observeth not, is like a man that built an house upon the ground without any foundation, which the flood beat violently upon, and immediately it fell down, and the ruin of that house was great.

Therefore I tell you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation, that will bring forth the fruits thereof.

but his lord answered and said to him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strewed; thou oughtest then to have put my money to the bankers, and when I came I should have received my own with interest. Take ye therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that hath the ten talents;read more.
(for to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall abound; but from him that hath not, even what he hath, or seemeth to have, shall be taken away:) and cast out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

silver, precious stones, or wood, hay, stubble; every man's work shall be made manifest. For the great day will shew it; because it will be discovered by fire, and the fire will prove every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide, which he hath built upon it, he shall receive a reward:read more.
but if any man's work be burnt, he will be damaged; though he himself shall be saved, but, as it were out of fire.

who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the holy Spirit, and of the good word of God, and the powers of the gospel-age, and yet fall away, should be renewed again to repentance: since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and make an open example of Him.

who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be as God. Yet He emptied himself, assuming the form of a servant, when made in the likeness of men: and being in the human state, He humbled himself, and was obedient even unto death, and that the death of the cross.read more.
Wherefore God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name above every name: that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of celestial beings, as well as of those on earth, and of those under the earth; and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

for he that would save his life shall lose it; but he that would lose his life for my sake shall find it.
