Thematic Bible: Pressure of duty
Thematic Bible
Pressure of duty » It makes the message imperative
Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia. He witnessed to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.
We cannot stop speaking the things we have seen and heard.
I am compelled by the spirit to go to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there.
Pressure of duty » It sounds a woe in the ears of him who falters
Though I preach the good news I do not brag about it. Preaching the good news is my duty (obligation) and I must do it! It would be terrible if I did not preach the good news!
Pressure of duty » It burns like an inward fire
But if I say: I will not remember him or speak anymore in his name, then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in. I cannot endure it.
Pressure of duty » It binds the soul to its task
I have a baptism to experience and I am distressed until it is accomplished!
Pressure of duty » It calls like the voice of a lion
The lion has roared. Who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah has spoken! Who will not prophesy?
Pressure of duty » It urges to haste
We must work the works of him that sent me while it is day. When the night comes no man can work.
