Jehovah said to Aaron: Never drink beer or wine when you or your sons enter the sacred tent. If you do, you will die right there! This is a long lasting law from generation to generation. You must learn the difference (distinction) between what is holy and what is not holy and between the clean and the unclean.

Nazirites must never drink wine, liquor, vinegar made from wine or liquor, or any kind of grape juice. They must never eat fresh grapes or raisins. As long as they are Nazirites they must never eat anything that comes from a grapevine, not even grape seeds or skins.

Jehovah's angel answered: Your wife must be sure to do everything I told her. She must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine. She must not drink any wine or beer, or eat any forbidden food. She must do everything I told her to do.

Do not look on the wine when it is red, when it shines in the cup, when it goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like a viper.

But they answered: No! The ancestor of our clan, Jonadab son of Rechab, made a rule that we must obey. He said: 'Do not ever drink wine or build houses or plant crops and vineyards. Instead, you must always live in tents and move from place to place. If you obey this command, you will live a long time.' We have obeyed all the instructions that Jonadab gave us. Make vows to Jehovah your God and fulfill them. Let all who are around him bring gifts to him. He should be respected. He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is awesome to the kings of the earth.

All the kings of the earth will praise you, O Jehovah, because they have heard the words you spoke. They will sing this about the ways of Jehovah: Jehovah's honor is great!

It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness for the throne is established by righteousness. Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They love the man who speaks what is right. Anger from a king is the messenger of death, but a wise man will placate it. read more.

Teach sound doctrine. Aged men should be temperate, serious, sound in mind, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance. Aged women likewise should be reverent in behavior and teachers of that which is good. They should not be slanderers nor enslaved to too much wine. read more.
They may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sober minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God will not be (defamed) dishonored. Urge the younger men to be sound in mind. Be an example of good works in all things, showing no corruption in your doctrine. Have sound speech that cannot be condemned so the man opposing us may be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us. Servants should to be in subjection to their masters (overseers) (employers). They should please them in all things and not talk back. They should not steal from them, but should show good fidelity that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. For the grace (divine influence) of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present age (world) (period of time).
