Is there any wise and understanding man among you? let him shew his works by a good conversation in the meekness of wisdom:
For your obedience is come to the knowledge of all: and therefore I rejoice on your account; but yet I would have you wise to that which is good, and simple as to that which is evil.
For this cause we also, from the day that we heard it, cease not to pray for you, and to request that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding: that ye may walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
but if ye have bitter envy and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth; this is not the wisdom, that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and diabolical: for where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.read more.
But the wisdom that is from above first is pure, then peaceable, mild, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Then will the kingdom of heaven be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom: and five of them were wise, and five were foolish. The foolish ones took their lamps, and took no oil with them:read more.
but the wise took oil in their vessels as well as in their lamps. Now while the bridegroom stayed, they were all drowsy and fell asleep: and in the middle of the night there was a cry, The bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him. Then all the virgins rose up and trimmed their lamps: and the foolish ones said to the wise, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out: but the wise answered them, saying, Least there should not be enough for us and you, go rather to them that sell it, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that were ready went in with him to the wedding-feast, and then the door was shut.
Wherefore, brethren, look out from among you seven men of good character, full of the holy Spirit, and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this matter:
Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his lord hath set over his family to give them food in due season?
And the Lord said, Who is indeed that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his family to give out the measure of food in due season?
I speak it to your shame. What! is there not one wise man among you, that is able to judge between his bretheren?
Yet we speak true wisdom among the perfect: though not the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who come to nought. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, that hidden wisdom which God ordained before the worlds for our glory:
whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another by psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude singing in your hearts to the Lord.
and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he appointed him governor over Egypt, and over all his houshold.
