Anger of God » Against » Sin, in saints
I eat ashes with my bread, and mingle my drink with weeping, and that because of thine indignation and wrath; for thou hast taken me up, and cast me down.
But if his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments, if they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments, I will visit their offenses with the rod, and their sins with scourges.
For we consume away in thy displeasure, and are afraid at thy wrathful indignation. Thou hast set our misdeeds before thee, and our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. For when thou art angry, all our days are gone; we bring our years to an end, as it were a tale that is told.
Thou heardest them, O LORD our God; thou forgavest them, O God, and punished their own inventions.
