And Aaron said unto Moses, "Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD, and it is chanced me after this manner. If I should eat of the sin offering today, would the LORD be content withal?"

Nevertheless, thou shalt go unto thy fathers in peace, and shalt be buried when thou art of a good age:

For we which live, are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might appear in our mortal flesh.

There is no man that calleth upon thy name, that standeth up to take hold by thee. Therefore hidest thou thy face from us and consumest us, because of our sins.

but she that liveth in pleasure, is dead even yet alive.

and whosoever liveth, and believeth on me, shall never die. Believest thou this?"

Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth, shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to perpetual shame and reproof.

And he went in and said unto them, "Why make ye this ado and weep? The maiden is not dead, but sleepeth."

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by the means of sin; And so death went over all men, insomuch that all men sinned.

Neither is there any man that hath power over the spirit, to keep still the spirit, nor to have any power in the time of death: it is not he also that can make an end of the battle, neither may ungodliness deliver him that meddleth withall.

For we must needs die, and perish as water spilt on the ground which cannot be gathered up again: and God will not take away the life, but find the means that the banished be not utterly expelled from him.

Sure I am, that thou wilt deliver me unto death: whereas a lodging is prepared for all men living.

For he that is dead, is justified from sin.

The dead praise not thee, O LORD, neither all they that go down into silence.

For they that be living, know that they shall die: but they that be dead, know nothing, neither deserve they anymore. For their memorial is forgotten, so that they be neither loved, hated nor envied: neither have they anymore part in the world, in all that is done under the Sun.

For hell praiseth not thee, death doth not magnify thee. They that go down into the grave, praise not thy truth:

For if ye live after the flesh, ye must die. But if ye mortify the deeds of the body, by the help of the spirit, ye shall live,

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection. For on such shall the second death have no power, for they shall be the priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

he opresseth not the poor; he receiveth no usury, nor anything over; he keepeth my laws, and walketh in my commandments: this man shall not die in his father's sin, but shall live without fail.

Again; If I say unto the wicked, 'Thou shalt surely die,' and so he turn from his sins, and do the thing that is lawful and right: Insomuch that the same wicked man giveth the pledge again, restoreth that he had taken away by robbery, walketh in the commandments of life, and doth no wrong: Then shall he surely live, and not die.

And he went a day's journey into the wilderness, and when he was come sat down under a Juniper tree, and desired for his soul, that he might die, and said, "It is now enough, O LORD, take my soul; for I am not better than my fathers."

Which long for death, if it come not;

that my soul wisheth rather to be strangled, and my bones to be dead.

And all they that remain of this wicked generation, shall desire rather to die than to live: wheresoever they remain, and whereas I scatter them, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff comfort me.

In that day shall it be said, "Lo, this is our God: we have waited for him, and he shall save us. This is the LORD in whom we have hoped: Let us rejoice, and delight in his salvation.

For he must reign till he have put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. "For he hath put all things under his feet." But when he saith, "All things are put under him," it is manifest, that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. read more.
When all things are subdued unto him: then shall the son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all things.

And straightway one of them ran and took a sponge and filled it full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. Others said, "Let be: let us see whether Elijah will come and deliver him." Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up the ghost. And behold, the veil of the temple did rent in twain from the top to the bottom, and the earth did quake, and the stones did rent, and graves did open, and the bodies of many saints which slept, arose: and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and came into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh, but he received it not. And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what every man should have. And it was about the third hour, and they crucified him. read more.

And Jesus said unto him, "Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise." And it was about the sixth hour. And there came a darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour, and the sun was darkened. And the veil of the temple did rent even through the midst. And Jesus cried with a great voice and said, "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit." And when he thus had said, he gave up the ghost. When the Centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God saying, "Of a surety this man was perfect." And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done: smote their breasts, and returned home. And all his acquaintance, and the women, that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off beholding these things.

Then delivered he him unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. And he bare his cross, and went forth into a place called the place of dead men's skulls: which is named in Hebrew, Golgotha: where they crucified him. And from that hour the disciple took her for his own. After that, when Jesus perceived that all things were performed, that the scripture might be fulfilled, he said, "I thirst." There stood a vessel full of vinegar by. And they filled a sponge with vinegar, and wound it about with hyssop, and put it to his mouth. As soon as Jesus had received of the vinegar, he said, "It is finished," and bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider the trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death.

And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter. And upon this rock, I will build my congregation: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Have the gates of death been open unto thee, or hast thou seen the door of everlasting treasure?

"I thought I should have gone to the gates of hell in my best age, and have wanted the residue of my years.

For the kingdom is the LORD's, and he is the governour among the people. All such as be fat upon earth have eaten and worshipped. All they that go down into the dust shall kneel before him; and no man hath quickened his own soul.

Neither is there any man that hath power over the spirit, to keep still the spirit, nor to have any power in the time of death: it is not he also that can make an end of the battle, neither may ungodliness deliver him that meddleth withall.

For none of us liveth his own servant: and also neither doth any of us die his own servant. If we live, we live to be at the Lord's will. And if we die, we die at the Lord's will.

Tell them, 'As truly as I live, sayeth the LORD God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but much rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn you, turn you from your ungodly ways, O ye of the house of Israel. Oh, wherefore will ye die?'

When an ungodly man dieth, his hope is gone; the confidence of riches shall perish.

And yet the wicked, if he turn from all his sins which he did, and keep all mine ordinances, and do justly and righteously; he shall live and not die. None of the sins that he hath done shall be reckoned unto him: In the righteousness that he hath done, he shall live. For I desire not the death of a sinner, saith the Lord Jehovah, but rather that he should turn from his way, and live.

It grieveth my soul to live. Nevertheless, now will I put forth my words: I will speak out of the very heaviness of my soul,

O that thou wouldest keep me, and hide me in the hell, until thy wrath were stilled: and to appoint me a time, wherein thou mightest remember me.

"O that I might have my desire! O that God would grant me the thing, that I long for! That he would begin and smite me: that he would let his hand go, and hew me down. Then should I have some comfort: yea, I would desire him in my pain, that he should not spare, for I will not be against the words of the holy one. read more.
What power have I to endure? Or, what is mine end, that my soul might be patient?

Is not the life of man upon earth a very battle? Are not his days like the days of a hired servant? For like as a bond servant desireth the shadow, and as a hireling would fain have an end of his work: Even so have I laboured whole months long - but in vain - and many a careful night have I told.

that my soul wisheth rather to be strangled, and my bones to be dead. I can see no remedy. I shall live no more. O spare me then, for my days are but vain.

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and is become the first fruits of them that slept. For by a man came death, and by a man came resurrection of the dead. For as by Adam all die; even so by Christ, shall all be made alive, read more.

If Christ be in you: the body is dead, because of sin; But the spirit is life for righteousness' sake. Wherefore, if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from death, dwell in you: even he that raised up Christ from death, shall quicken your mortal bodies, because that this spirit dwelleth in you.

But some man will say, "How shall the dead arise? With what bodies come they in? Thou fool, that which thou sowest, is not quickened except it die. And what sowest thou? Thou sowest not that body that shall be: but bare corn - I mean either of wheat, or of some other - read more.

Wherefore, if ye be dead with Christ from ordinances of the world: Why as though ye yet lived in the world, are ye led with traditions of them that say

If Christ be in you: the body is dead, because of sin; But the spirit is life for righteousness' sake. Wherefore, if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from death, dwell in you: even he that raised up Christ from death, shall quicken your mortal bodies, because that this spirit dwelleth in you.

God forbid. How shall we that are dead, as touching sin, live any longer therein? Remember ye not, that all we which are baptised in the name of Christ Jesus, are baptised to die with him? We are buried with him by baptism for to die: That likewise as Christ was raised up from death by the glory of the father: even so we also should walk in a new life. read more.

This we must remember, that our old man is crucified with him also, that the body of sin might utterly be destroyed; that henceforth we should not be servants of sin. For he that is dead, is justified from sin. Wherefore if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall live with him: remembering that Christ, once raised from death, dieth no more. Death hath no more power over him. For as touching that he died, he died as concerning sin once. And as touching that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise, imagine ye also, that ye are dead concerning sin: but are alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Remember ye not brethren - I speak to them that know the law - how that the law hath power over a man as long as it endureth? For the woman which is in subjection to a man, is bound by the law to the man, as long as he liveth. If the man be dead, she is loosed from the law of the man. So then, if while the man liveth she couple herself with another man, she shall be counted a wedlock-breaker. Even so, ye my brethren; ye also are made dead as concerning the law by the body of Christ, that ye should be coupled to another - I mean to him that is risen again from death - that we should bring forth fruit unto God. Riches help not in the day of vengeance; but righteousness delivereth from death.

For he must reign till he have put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

And this say we unto you in the word of the Lord, that we which live and are remaining in the coming of the Lord, shall not come before they which sleep.

Nevertheless we are of good comfort, and had rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Neither is there any man that hath power over the spirit, to keep still the spirit, nor to have any power in the time of death: it is not he also that can make an end of the battle, neither may ungodliness deliver him that meddleth withall.

By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph, and bowed himself toward the top of his scepter.

A good name is more worth than a precious ointment, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.
