Here I was in the Spirit on the Lord's-day: and heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last; and, What thou seest write in a book, and send it to the seven churches in Asia, to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea. And I turned to see the voice that spake to me: and when I turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; read more.
and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like the Son of man, clothed with a long robe, and girded about the breasts with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like white wool, as white as snow; and his eyes as a flame of fire; and his feet like fine brass, as if they were glowing in a furnace: and his voice as the sound of many waters: and He had in his right hand seven stars, and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun when he shineth in his strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at his feet as dead; and He laid his right hand upon me, and said to me, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, who live, though I was dead; and behold, I am alive for ever and ever, Amen, and have the keys of hades and of death.

And the fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star fall from heaven to the earth: and the key of the bottomless pit was given to him. And he opened the bottomless pit: and there came up smoke out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit. And out of the smoke there came forth locusts upon the earth; and power was given them, even as the scorpions of the earth have power. read more.
And order was given them, not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree; but only the men, who had not the seal of God on their foreheads. And to them was given power, not to kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it: and they shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. And the resemblance of the locusts was like horses prepared for war; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces as the faces of men. And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breast-plates like breast-plates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, with many horses running to battle. And they had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, the angel of the bottomless pit; whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek tongue Apollyon. Thus one wo is past, but behold two woes more are coming after. And the sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a certain voice from the four horns of the golden altar, which is before God, saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet, Let loose the four angels, that are bound by the great river Euphrates.
