And He came down to Capernaum a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath-days, and they were astonished at his doctrine; for He spake with authority. And there was a man in the synagogue possessed by the spirit of an impure demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,read more.
saying, Let us alone, what hast thou to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the holy one of God: but Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him. And the demon threw him down in the midst of the assembly, and came out of him, having done him no hurt.
And he went away and came into their synagogue: and there being a man there who had a withered hand, they asked Him, if it were lawful to heal on the sabbath-days? that they might accuse Him. But He said unto them, What man of you shall have one of his sheep fall into a pit on the sabbath-day, and will not lay hold of it and lift it out?read more.
And of how much more worth is a man than a sheep? Sure then it is lawful to do good on the sabbath-days. Then saith He to the man, Stretch out thine hand: and he stretched it out, and it was made sound like the other. But the pharisees went out of the synagogue and took counsel together against Him, how they might destroy Him:

But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man that had the withered hand, Rise, and stand in the midst: and he rose up and stood forth.read more.
Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing, Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to let it be lost? And looking round upon them all, He said to the man, Stretch out thine hand: and he did so, and his hand was made as sound as the other. And they were filled with confusion: and consulted together, what they might do to Jesus.
And Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever: and they immediately told Him of her: and He came to her, and taking her by the hand raised her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she waited upon them.
And He rose up and went out of the synagogue, and came into the house of Simon: now Simon's wife's mother had a violent fever, and they intreated Him on her behalf. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever, and it left her: and immediately she arose and waited upon them. And He laid his hands upon her; and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue, being provoked that Jesus had wrought a cure on the sabbath-day, said to the people, There are six days in which ye ought to work; on these therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath-day. The Lord therefore answered him and said, Thou hypocrite, does not any of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead him away to watering? Now this was the sabbath-day, therefore the Jews said to him that was cured, It is the sabbath, it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He, that made me well, said unto me, Take up thy bed and walk. And the man went away, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had healed him. And for this did the Jews persecute Jesus, and endeavoured to put Him to death; because He had done these things on the sabbath-day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh without intermission, and so do I. For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He had not only broken the sabbath, but had also called God his own Father, making Himself equal with God.
And as Jesus was passing along, He saw a man, who had been blind from his birth. And his disciples asked Him, saying, Master, who sinned? this man or his parents? that he was born blind. Jesus answered, Neither did this man sin, nor his parents: but that the works of God might be manifested in him.read more.

Now it was the sabbath-day, when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. Therefore the pharisees also asked him again, how he recovered his sight. And he said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. Then said some of the pharisees, This man is not of God, because He doth not keep the sabbath: but others said, How can a wicked man do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
and when the sabbath was come, He began to teach in the synagogue: and many that heard Him were astonished, and said, From whence hath He these things? and what is this wisdom which is given unto Him, that even such mighty things are done by his hands?
and came into his own country, and taught them in their synagogues; so that they were amazed and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom and these powers?
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and according to his custom He went into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, and stood up to read.
Now after the sabbath, in the dawning towards the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, to look at the sepulchre:
And when the sabbath was past Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices in order to come and embalm Him:
wherefore the women, that came with Him from Galilee, followed Joseph, and saw the sepulchre, and how the body was laid: but returned and prepared spices and perfumes; and then rested on the sabbath-day, according to the commandment.
Therefore they made Him a supper there, and Martha waited at table, but Lazarus was one of them that sat down with Him.
Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath-day's journey.

And they passing on from Perga came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, and sat down.
For Moses hath had from ancient times those that preach him in every city, and is still read in the synagogues every sabbath-day.

Now the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, and the doors where the disciples were being shut, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be to you.
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples were assembled together to break bread, Paul being about to depart on the morrow, preached unto them, and continued his discourse till midnight.
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you set apart something, putting it into the treasury, according as he is prospered: that there may be no need of collections, when I come.
Let us therefore fear least a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of us should seem to fall short of it:
and to whom did He swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to those that were disobedient? and so we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
