Then there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; on the other side fought the dragon with his angels: but these were defeated, they lost their place in heaven: the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, call'd the devil or satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were precipitated with him.

Then I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose presence the earth and the heaven fled away, so that they disappear'd.

After these things, I saw FOUR ANGELS standing on the four corners of the land, holding the four winds of the land, that the wind should not blow on the land, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

And when I beheld the opening of the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake: the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; the stars of heaven fell down to the earth, even as a fig-tree casteth its untimely figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind: the heaven disappeared as a book when it is rolled up: every mountain and island were moved out of their places: the kings of the earth, the great men,

and another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar, which was before the throne. and the smoke of the incense together with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God, out of the angel's hand. and the angel took the censer, and having filled it with the fire of the altar, he cast it upon the land: and there was a noise of thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake. read more.
Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets, prepared themselves to sound. the first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, which fell upon the earth: and a third part of the earth, and a third part of the trees was burnt up, and all the green grass. And the second angel sounded, and a great mountain as it were all on fire was cast into the sea; and the third part of the sea became blood: and the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning like a flambeau, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters. the name of the star was wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkned, and the day lost a third part of its light, and the night likewise.

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. and he opened the bottomless pit, and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkned by reason of the smoke of the pit.

the horses I saw in my vision had this appearance: the riders had breast-plates of fire, of jacinth, and brimstone: the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire, smoke, and brimstone. by these three the third part of men were killed, by the fire, by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. for the power of these horses is in their mouths, and in their tails: for their tails were like serpents, and had heads, with which they do mischief.

Then I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, invested with a cloud, a rainbow was upon his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. he held in his hand a little book open: his right foot was upon the sea, and his left foot on the land. his voice was as loud as the roaring of a lion: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. read more.
and when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: but I heard a voice saying to me, "seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not." Then the angel which I saw standing upon the sea, and upon the land, lifted up his hand to heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created the heaven and all that is therein, the earth and all that is therein, the sea and all that is therein, "that the time should be no longer defer'd."

during their prophecy they have power to prevent any rain descending from heaven: their power extends over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with what plagues they please.

and there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a WOMAN invested with glory like the sun: the moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: she was with child, and cried in her labour with the pangs of her delivery. And there appeared another wonder in heaven, it was a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. read more.
his tail swept the third part of the stars of heaven; and cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered, in order to devour her child as soon as it was born.

I saw another prodigy in heaven, great and marvellous, SEVEN ANGELS, having the seven last plagues, for by them the divine vengeance is consummated. and I saw as it were a sea of glass, mingled with fire; and those that had been victorious over the beast, and over his image, and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, with their divine harps in their hands. and they sung the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the lamb, saying, "great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou king of ages. read more.
who will not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: and all nations shall come to adore thee; because thy judgments have been display'd."

The FOURTH angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given to him to scorch mankind with its fire.

And the SEVENTH angel poured out his vial into the air; and there a loud voice issued from the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "it is done." and there were voices, thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake and so great. and the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. read more.
and every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. and there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a TALENT: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse appear'd; and he that sat upon him was called the faithful and the true: in righteousness he judges and makes war: his eyes were as a flame of fire, on his head were many crowns: and a name inscrib'd which no one comprehended, but himself: he had a vesture dipt in blood: and his name is called, the logos of God. read more.
and the armies of heaven followed him upon white horses, cloathed in fine linnen, white and clean. out of his mouth went a sharp sword, in order to smite the nations: for he shall rule them with an iron sceptre: and tread the wine-press of the fierce vengeance of almighty God. on the mantle about his thigh was this inscription, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. I saw likewise an angel standing upon the sun; and he cryed with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, "come and gather your selves together to the supper of the great God; that ye may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses, and of those that ride on them, the flesh of all that are free, and all that are slaves, both small and great."

Then I saw the lamb open one of the seals, when I heard one of the four animals with a voice like thunder, say, "come, and see." I look'd, and there was a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow, and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth like a conqueror, to gain conquests. When he had opened the second seal, I heard the second animal say, "come and see." read more.
and there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon, to banish peace from the land, and to make men kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. When he had opened the third seal, I heard the third animal say, "come and see." and I beheld, and saw a black horse; and he that sat on him had a balance in his hand. and I heard a voice from amidst the four animals say, " a measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; but don't touch the oil and the wine." When he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth animal say, "come and see." and I looked, and there was a pale horse; the name of him that sat thereon was DEATH, and the Grave followed with him: and power was given to them, over the fourth part of the land to kill with sword, with famine, with pestilence, and with wild beasts. When he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they maintain'd. and they cried with a loud voice, saying, "how long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou defer doing justice, and avenging our blood on those that dwell on the earth?" and white robes were given to every one of them, and it was said unto them, that they should have patience yet for a little while, till the number of their fellow-servants, and their brethren, that should be killed, as they were, should be complete. And when I beheld the opening of the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake: the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; the stars of heaven fell down to the earth, even as a fig-tree casteth its untimely figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind: the heaven disappeared as a book when it is rolled up: every mountain and island were moved out of their places: the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the chief captains, and the mighty men, every bond-man, and every free-man, bid themselves in the caverns, and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains, and to the rocks, "fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the lamb: for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to subsist?"

At the opening of the SEVENTH SEAL, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. Then I saw the seven angels who attend in the presence of God; and to them were given seven trumpets. and another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar, which was before the throne. read more.
and the smoke of the incense together with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God, out of the angel's hand. and the angel took the censer, and having filled it with the fire of the altar, he cast it upon the land: and there was a noise of thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake. And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkned, and the day lost a third part of its light, and the night likewise. then I beheld, and heard an eagle flying thro' the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, wo, wo, wo to the inhabitants of the earth, by reason of the sound of the trumpets which the other three angels are yet to sound.

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. and he opened the bottomless pit, and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkned by reason of the smoke of the pit. and there came out of the smoke locusts upon the land; and to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. read more.
and they were commanded not to hurt the fruits of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree; but those men who have not the seal of God in their foreheads. and to them was power given, not to kill them, but to torment them five months: and their pain was like the pain which a scorpion produces when it strikes a man. in those days shall men seek for death, but shall not find it; they will desire to die, and death will shun them. the figure of the locusts were like that of horses prepared to battle; but on their heads they had, as it were, crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. their hair was like that of women, and their teeth like the teeth of lions. they were vested with breast-plates, as it were of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots and many horses running to battle. they had stings in their tails like scorpions; and they had leave to molest men for five months with their stings. they had for their king the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek his name is Apollyon. One wo is past, and now two woes are to follow. then the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar, which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates." and the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, to slay the third part of men. and the number of the horse of that army were two hundred millions: for I heard them number'd. the horses I saw in my vision had this appearance: the riders had breast-plates of fire, of jacinth, and brimstone: the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire, smoke, and brimstone. by these three the third part of men were killed, by the fire, by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. for the power of these horses is in their mouths, and in their tails: for their tails were like serpents, and had heads, with which they do mischief. As for the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues, they did not repent of their evil actions, so as to forbear worshipping demons, and idols of gold and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk: nor did they repent of their murders, of their poisoning, of their brutality, nor of their robberys.

Then I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, invested with a cloud, a rainbow was upon his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. he held in his hand a little book open: his right foot was upon the sea, and his left foot on the land. his voice was as loud as the roaring of a lion: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. read more.
and when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: but I heard a voice saying to me, "seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not." Then the angel which I saw standing upon the sea, and upon the land, lifted up his hand to heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created the heaven and all that is therein, the earth and all that is therein, the sea and all that is therein, "that the time should be no longer defer'd." but when the seventh angel should speak, and the trumpet should sound, the mystery of God should be accomplish'd, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

The seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in heaven, crying, "the kingdom of this world is become the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever." then the four and twenty elders, who sat before God on their thrones, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, saying, "we give thee thanks, O Lord God almighty, who. art, and who wast; because thou hast assum'd thy great power, and hast reigned. read more.
the nations were enrag'd, but the time of thy vengeance is come, and the time when the dead are to be judged, when thou wilt reward thy servants the prophets, the saints, and those that fear thy name, small and great, and exterminate those who have corrupted the land." THEN the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, voices, and thunders, and an earthquake, and great hail.

his voice was as loud as the roaring of a lion: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

And the voice which I heard from heaven, spake to me again, and said, "go, take the little book that is open, from the hand of the angel who stands upon the sea, and upon the land." so I went to the angel, and said to him, "give me the little book." and he said to me, "take it, and eat it up; it shall prove bitter in thy bowels, but in thy mouth it shall be as sweet as honey." immediately having took the little book out of the angel's hand, I swallowed it down: and in my mouth it was as sweet as honey: but as soon as I had swallowed it, it was bitter within me.

his voice was as loud as the roaring of a lion: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. and when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: but I heard a voice saying to me, "seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not."
