And there went forth another horse, a red one; and to him who was sitting thereon it was given to take peace from the earth, and that they should slay one another; and there was given to him a great sword. And I heard as if a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, "A measure of wheat for a denary, and three measures of barley for a denary; and the oil and the wine do not hurt." And, when He opened the fourth seal, I heard a voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come." And I saw, and behold, a pale horse; and he that sat on him, his name was Death; and Hades was following with him. And there was given to them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth. And, when He opened the fifth seal, I saw, underneath the altar, the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they were holding. And they cried with a great voice, saying, "How long, O Master, the Holy, and the True, dost Thou not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell upon the earth?" And a white robe was given to each one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet a little time, until their fellow-servants and their brethren, who were about to be slain, as they also had been, should fulfill their course. And I saw, when He opened the sixth seal, and a great earthquake took place; and the sun became black as sack-cloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood; and the stars of the heaven fell to the earth, as a fig-tree casts her unripe figs, when shaken by a great wind; And the heaven was removed, as a scroll rolled up; and every mountain and island were removed out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the magnates, and the commanders of thousands, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains; and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him Who is sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; because the great day of their wrath came, and who is able to stand?"

And another angel came, and stood over the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. read more.
And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God out of the hand of the angel. And the angel has taken the censer; and he filled it with the fire of the altar, and cast it to the earth; and there followed thunders, and voices, and lightnings, and an earthquake. And the seven angels, who had the seven trumpets, prepared themselves to sound. And the first sounded; and there followed hail and fire, mingled with blood, and they were cast to the earth; and the third part of the earth was burnt up, and the third part of the trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea; and the third part of the sea became blood; and the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, that had souls, died; and the third part of the ships was destroyed. And the third angel sounded; and there fell out of the heaven a great star, burning as a torch, and it fell on the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of the waters. And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many of the men died in consequence of the waters, because they were made bitter. And the fourth angel sounded; and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, that the third part of them might be darkened, and that the day might not shine for the third part of it, and the night in like manner. And I saw, and heard an eagle flying in mid-heaven, saying with a great voice, "Woe, woe, woe, to those who dwell on the earth, by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!"

And it was said to them, that they should not injure the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only such men as have not the seal of God upon their foreheads. And it was given to them, that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months. And their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a man. And in those days will men seek death, and shall in no wise find it; and they will desire to die, and death flees from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads as it were crowns like gold; and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women; and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running into battle. And they have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men five months. They have over them as king the angel of the abyss: his name in Hebrew is Abaddon; and, in the Greek, he has a name Apollyon. The first woe departed; behold, there are coming yet two woes hereafter! And the sixth angel sounded; and I heard one voice out of the horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet; "Loose the four angels that are bound in the great river Euphrates." And the four angels were loosed, who had been prepared for the hour, and day, and month, and year, that they might kill the third part of men. And the number of the armies of the horsemen was twice ten thousand times ten thousand: I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates as of fire, and hyacinth, and brimstone. And the heads of the horses are as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths proceed fire, and smoke, and brim-stone. By these three plagues the third part of men was killed, by reason of the fire, and the smoke, and the brimstone, that was issuing out of their mouths. For the power of the horses is in their mouth and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents, having heads, and with them they hurt. And the rest of the men, who were not killed with these plagues, repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship the demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood; which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk; and they repented not of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornications, nor of their thefts.

And I saw another strong angel, descending out of Heaven, clothed with a cloud, and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire. And he had in his hand a little book opened; and he set his right foot on the sea, and his left on the land; and he cried with a great voice, as a lion roars; and, when he cried, the seven thunders uttered their voices. read more.
And, when the seven thunders spake, I was about to write; and I heard a voice out of Heaven, saying, "Seal up the things which the seven thunders spake, and write them not."
