Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. For ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol have we made an agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.

The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous. He indeed scorneth the scorners; but he giveth grace unto the lowly.


He that instructeth a scorner getteth to himself shame; and he that reproveth a wicked man getteth to himself a blot. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee; reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.
