A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

And the angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall throw down their altars: but you have not obeyed my voice: why have you done this? Therefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

But were mixed among the nations, and learned their works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

And I will set your bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and you shall drive them out before you. You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me: for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto you.

Observe that which I command you this day: behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you:

Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that you love the LORD your God. Else if you do in any way go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you: Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go: Lest you learn his ways, and get a snare to your soul.

A man that flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet. In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous does sing and rejoice.

For among my people are found wicked men: they lie in wait, as he that sets snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they have become great, and grown rich. They have grown fat, they shine: yea, they pass over the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not defend.

For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walks upon a snare. The trap shall take him by the heel, and a snare shall lay hold of him. The noose is laid for him on the ground, and a trap for him in the way.

When the LORD your God shall cut off the nations from before you, where you go to possess them, and you displace them, and dwell in their land; Take heed to yourself that you are not snared by following them, after they are destroyed from before you; and that you inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against the LORD. Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon you, O inhabitant of Moab, says the LORD.
