Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall test every man's work of what sort it is. The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD tries the hearts.
But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts.
I know your works, and your labor, and your patience, and how you can not bear them who are evil: and you have tried them who say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them liars:
But you, O LORD, know me: you have seen me, and tested my heart toward you: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
But, O LORD of hosts, who tests the righteous, and sees the mind and the heart, let me see your vengeance on them: for unto you have I opened my cause.
I know also, my God, that you test the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy your people, who are present here, to offer willingly unto you.
Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my heart and my mind.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God tests the minds and hearts.
But, O LORD of hosts, who judges righteously, who tests the mind and the heart, let me see your vengeance on them: for unto you have I revealed my cause.
