The Son of Man, came, eating and drinking, and they say, Lo! a gluttonous man and a wine-drinker! a friend of, tax-collectors, and sinners! And yet wisdom hath been justified by her works.

For John came unto you, in a way of righteousness, and ye believed him not, - but, the tax-collectors and the harlots, believed him; and, ye, seeing it, were not even smitten with regret, afterwards, so as to believe him.

And, the Pharisees, observing it, began to say unto his disciples, - Wherefore, with tax-collectors and sinners, doth your Teacher eat?


And it cometh to pass, that he is reclining in his house, and many tax-collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many, and they began following him.

But all the tax-collectors and the sinners were, unto him, drawing near, to be hearkening unto him;


And there came, even tax-collectors, to be immersed; and they said unto him - Teacher! what, shall we, do?

And, all the people, when they heard, and the tax-collectors, justified God, having been immersed with the immersion of John;


And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

And Levi made a great reception for him, in his house, and there was a great multitude of tax-collectors, and others, - who were with them reclining.


For, if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? are not, even the tax-collectors, the same thing, doing? And, if ye salute your brethren only, what, more than common, are ye doing? are not, even the nations, the same thing, doing?

Which of the two, did the will of the father? They say, The latter. Jesus saith unto them - Verily, I say unto you, the tax-collectors and the harlots, are going before you, into the kingdom of God;


Philip, and Bartholomew, - Thomas, and Matthew, the tax-collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thadaeus;


The Pharisee, taking his stand, these things unto himself was praying: O God! I thank thee, that I am not like the rest of men, - extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or, even as this tax-collector;


And, after these things, he went forth, and looked upon a tax-collector, by name Levi, - presiding over the tax-office; and he said to him - Be following me!


and lo! a man, by name called Zacchaeus, and, he, was a chief tax-collector, and hewas rich.




And, he, said unto them, Nothing more than what is appointed you, exact ye.
