As a result God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow -- in heaven and on earth and under the earth -- and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.



Thus he became so far better than the angels as he has inherited a name superior to theirs.

Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.

His eyes are like a fiery flame and there are many diadem crowns on his head. He has a name written that no one knows except himself.


Your knowledge is beyond my comprehension; it is so far beyond me, I am unable to fathom it.



Now King Herod heard this, for Jesus' name had become known. Some were saying, "John the baptizer has been raised from the dead, and because of this, miraculous powers are at work in him."

Now when John heard in prison about the deeds Christ had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question:

Then Jesus began to criticize openly the cities in which he had done many of his miracles, because they did not repent.

Then he came to his hometown and began to teach the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, "Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?

When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue. Many who heard him were astonished, saying, "Where did he get these ideas? And what is this wisdom that has been given to him? What are these miracles that are done through his hands?

As he approached the road leading down from the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen:

"But I have a testimony greater than that from John. For the deeds that the Father has assigned me to complete -- the deeds I am now doing -- testify about me that the Father has sent me.

Jesus replied, "I told you and you do not believe. The deeds I do in my Father's name testify about me.




They sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: "Great and astounding are your deeds, Lord God, the All-Powerful! Just and true are your ways, King over the nations!

He does amazing things that will be remembered; the Lord is merciful and compassionate.


God has made everything fit beautifully in its appropriate time, but he has also placed ignorance in the human heart so that people cannot discover what God has ordained, from the beginning to the end of their lives.


O Lord, my God, you have accomplished many things; you have done amazing things and carried out your purposes for us. No one can thwart you! I want to declare them and talk about them, but they are too numerous to recount!



For the Lord will rise up, as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself, as he did in the Valley of Gibeon, to accomplish his work, his peculiar work, to perform his task, his strange task.

Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?

Then Laban and Bethuel replied, "This is the Lord's doing. Our wishes are of no concern.

The Lord said to Samuel, "Look! I am about to do something in Israel; when anyone hears about it, both of his ears will tingle.



Therefore I will again do an amazing thing for these people -- an absolutely extraordinary deed. Wise men will have nothing to say, the sages will have no explanations."

But Jesus did not permit him to do so. Instead, he said to him, "Go to your home and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, that he had mercy on you."


Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan River, and around Tyre and Sidon a great multitude came to him when they heard about the things he had done.


He is the one you should praise; he is your God, the one who has done these great and awesome things for you that you have seen.

At that time we laughed loudly and shouted for joy. At that time the nations said, "The Lord has accomplished great things for these people."


The Lord's messenger said to him, "You should not ask me my name, because you cannot comprehend it."
