Because John didn't come eating or drinking, yet people say, "He has a demon!'
Because John the Baptist has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine, yet you say, "He has a demon!'
"because they had been saying, "He has an unclean spirit."
The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem kept repeating, "He has Beelzebul," and, "He drives out demons by the ruler of demons."
But the Pharisees kept saying, "He drives out demons by the ruler of demons."
But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "This man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons."
If I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own followers drive them out? That is why they will be your judges!
But some of them said, "He drives out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons."
It is enough for a disciple to be like his teacher and a slave to be like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they do the same to those of his household!"
The crowd answered, "You have a demon! Who is trying to kill you?"
The Jewish leaders replied to him, "Surely we're right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon, aren't we?"
Then the Jewish leaders told him, "Now we really know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets, but you say, "If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.'
Many of them were saying, "He has a demon and is insane. Why bother listening to him?"
Jesus answered, "I don't have a demon. On the contrary, I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
Others were saying, "These are not the words of a man who is demon-possessed. A demon cannot open the eyes of the blind, can it?"
