Although these false teachers promise such people freedom, they themselves are enslaved to immorality. For whatever a person succumbs to, to that he is enslaved.

Jesus answered them, "I tell you the solemn truth, everyone who practices sin is a slave of sin.

No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.

thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God.

You also lived your lives in this way at one time, when you used to live among them.

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

(I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.) For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.

For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, they exult in their shame, and they think about earthly things.

So if the son sets you free, you will be really free.
